So as I've gotten a bit more into doing matches and recently my buddy moved away to Texas and I need a serious shooting partner. I feel like I'm writing a damn personals add. Here's a bit about me:

I'm 27.
I keep myself in very good shape (which is important for distance matches)
Shoot a .308 (but got a new 591 Surgeon on the way and barrels to go .260)
I run MIL equipment (and so should you so)
I want to shoot as many matches as possible this year (and so should you)
My gun club is TriCounty and I shoot almost every weekend and often times 2x
I like nice equipment and have the money to compete in matches
I like this hobby a lot but I don't take it WAY to seriously
I'm willing to travel to matches

Basically what I'm looking for is a good match partner that I get along with well. We need to shoot well together and get along well. I don't wanna drive 10 hours to a match with someone that I don't "click" with.

I know this is a little fuckin weird. Trust me. However I can't find anyone locally and everyone at the range seems to be some yahoo trying to impress their friends with their AK or crap AR with some china red dot. I do have some buddies locally but they all have match partners as I'm kinda new to this and they arnt. Let me know if anyone is into this.

Re: I need a shooting/match partner Portland, Or Area.

I recommend trying out the practical rifle, precision rifle, and the 600 yard shoots at Tri-county. The 600 yards shoots are tuesday evenings 2x per month in winter, and weekly after. They start at 5:30 PM sharp.

By attending these three venues, you should be able to meet some people to shoot with. I used to shoot there, and met lots of people I would be willing to travel to matches with.

You are correct about lots of people wanting to impress other people with equipment (good or bad) rather with shooting skill, or good interpersonal skills. Just as you are "shopping" for a buddy to shoot with, they are checking you out too. Eventually, you will find someone who shares you interest in shooting, and traveling to matches.

I can already think of a half dozen people at the Tri-county matches that meet your description.
