I have a kestrel 5700 elite with ab and my windage that it tells me to use is a lot less than i acually need elevation is right on to 700 yards thats as far as i have gone out so far. Ab on my phone was giving me 2 moa of wind (witch is what i needed) and the kestrel was saying .8 moa. So any ideas why this would be off so much

As stated, could be a couple things.

If you’re doing a wind capture in certain modes, it will use compass for the direction.

You’ll also need to capture the direction of fire, or manually set the wind direction.

I do capture both but it still doesnt give the right wind for example shooting a 60g 223 at 400y in 8 mph 3 o'clock wind the kestrel is telling me to use 3.59 moa but i need 5.75 moa to get the hit

Wind at firing point is not always the same as downrange . There is often higher velocity wind up higher at max ord than
near ground level if you are shooting prone . Also check you have selected the correct bullet.

Go to Applied Ballistics website and check Doc Beechs fire solution checklist, if you follow the instructions you should be ok.

I will give it a try
