I think so many shooters get to wraped up in the technical data they don't learn to shoot properly.
For example there is a younger Gentleman on the hide that ask a lot of technichal question but can't hit his ass with both hands.

I was at a shoot with him yesterday and to listen to him and the guys he was shooting with was like listening to a Chinese Fire Drill.

One has to go out and practice what you learn. There isn't any short cuts to shooting no matter how much data you have. You still have to put a bullet on target for it all to work.

Re: I see a problem

it's up to us to be patient and be willing to help. The more of them that get into the sport the better it is overall for us.

Just yesterday some really nice guys were at the long range NW of me and I noticed one of them having some trouble out at 500 yards.. he had a really nice stock remmy rig with Vortex glass, and hand-loads.. but just needed someone a bit more experienced spotting for him.

He asked me a question about my scope so I started a conversation with him and I ended up spotting for him and getting him out to 750.

The look on his face and his excitement when he was making 1st round hits was priceless.

Re: I see a problem

I was very fortunate to have help through pretty much all my shooting experiences; still do. Very few of us are going to get there on our own.

Years back, you could have been talking about me. Sometimes, I begin to think I'm back in those days.

Re: I see a problem

I have a friend like that, it is all about getting the right crown, tapping the scope base screws to 8-32, threading the muzzle, braking the barrel in and get it melonited, etc etc and he hasn't pulled the trigger once on his brand new rifle but he is making dope card to 1100 yds without any real world data.
he drives me nuts somtimes.

Re: I see a problem

I know what you are saying

I was one of the people you are talking about back when I was a teen then well I didn't worry to much about the technical side of things and just went shooting for the fun of it.

Now I am starting to understand a lot of the information I already knew but didn't have the experience to process the information.

This site has so much good information on it I wish I found it years before I did having said that before about 2008 I didn't even know the internet was there.
