I stopped into a local retailer today and saw several Bushmaster patrol carbines and Rock River carbines, all with the stepped barrels, for $815.00! 7 M1As-(still pricey but not absurdly), and at least 10 Mini-14s in .223, 7.62x39 and 6.8 all for under $750.00. They also had lots of other Ruger stuff on sale including the new 5.56 rifles for around $1500.00.

Could the supply of semi auto rifles be catching up to demand? Might explain the very reasonable prices I saw there.

Oh and Ruger is making 30 round mags for the mini. This outfit sold them for $50.00 so I passed. But they had 20s for $25.00 so I bit on 4 of them!

It was a pleasant surprise at SRT supply in Clearwater, Fl.

I have no relationship to these folks other than as a customer. Just thought I'd pass it along.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

They have been catching up for the last couple of months. Most of the shops I've been to around here have had black guns in stock in growing selection.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

Local gunshop is having to step down his primer prices slowly...finally getting flooded with backorder fills and can''t just drop the price of people would notice he fucked them for double the normal rate!!!!

Be glad to see the infamous black guns be reasonable now...untill there is talk of a ban again!!!

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

It is for sure. I was at a Sportsmans wharehouse today and they must have had 3 rows of diff. AR's. Few months ago you could not find them here.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

I'm almost wondering if a glut in the market will allow us to get some good deals. I was really interested in trying out a piston upper but good lord, those were so pricey after the election. I just couldn't justify dumping 15-1700 on a new upper when I had a perfectly good RRA sitting in my safe. But if prices started to fall, hell, I may even look into one of the SASS models. Good news indeed.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see if dealers/shops end up getting stuck with excess inventory.

I know I just got an email from Brownells regarding a UBR order I have outstanding - they're trying to get all their backorder/preferred-notification customers to let them know whether they still want the items or not so they don't get stuck with a bunch of stuff they don't have buyers for anymore.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

My last R&R you couldnt throw a rock and hit a gunshop that didnt have an AR/AK, the R&R before that you couldnt find an AR anywhere. I got a thing from CDNN on thier weekly gun sales list that had CMMG M-4's for $750, colt 6920's were something like $1250, and 6940's were 1499. the market is flooded with them, and prices will be the lowest ever I think before long.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

just wait, in 2 years you will be able to buy complete ARs for a few hundreds of dollars. Why? Becasue they are being maufactured at a mind blowing rate.

The market will be so unbelievably saturated with ARs and their parts/components that everyone will have to be undercutting everyone else, just to make a sale.

Finally, a supply and demand issue that the low supply and high demand will not be the problem.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

Prices may drop a bit over the next year, but....
I think we will be back into normal or higher prices right around the 2010 mid-term elections. I bet they will try new gun legislation just after those occur. It's possible they could wait until O's second term, but I bet they will try it sooner.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

I was buying really nice Armalites, RRA and DPMS AR's for $600-$700 when I first came into the box, then obama made it in and the prices went nuts

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

Someone should call Doublestar and tell them the news.

I'm still waiting on a lower from the group buy on 1919a4 that started, what, almost a YEAR ago?

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

The AR Bubble already burst.. Even back in May at the NRA Show, manufactures had already seen a decline in demand. They have cut back on production, and even let workers go. Store selves are now stocked, prices have droped way down.. Good time to buy if you want one..

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

I've been to 2 different Gander Mts this past week and the shelves were full at both...not only black guns but ammo and powder as well. The local Wally World had 5.56 ammo for a little over $9 (i've never seen 5.56 there before) Things are slowly starting to look up!!

I've been pretty successful finding it, bought 300rnds last weekend, but paying $25 for a box is 50 isn't exactly a decent price.

They also had the steel-cased blazer .45acp for $19 a box, but I hate feeding that through anything.

Re: I think the manufacturers are catching up!

My walmarts are stocking 40SW again, after almost a year of nothing. $16 a box for Fed FMJ too! Cabelas was covered up in ammo when I went about a week ago as well...

lol. Sorry. Here is central Pa. Local shops have had bushmaster under $875, and DPMS's under $800. Pretty darn close to what they were before the election.

My local Walmarts never ran out of 40SW. They have always had blazer 50rd boxes, any day I went. May have only been a box or two, but they always had some. 9mm and .45 not so much. I've seen more of the 9mm, but the .45 is still pretty dry.
