Is was once a Winchester extreme weather in .300 wm. I never could get much for accuracy as it was.
I took it to my local smith, over a year I waited for
A brux 1/10 barrel 29" I don't remember the name or # of the contour but it's 1.5 down to .92 at muzzle
His designed muzzle break
He trued bolt and tuned trigger
A-5 stock
Harris bipod
Ptg bottom metal
5.5-22 nxs w/ np-r1 reticle.
I've done quite a bit of dry fire since I got it end of January but haven't been able to get out yet.

I haven't weighed it yet but will later and post back. Just guessing that it's going to be 16#. My goal was 2 fold first long barrel with low pressure I should have pretty high velocity. Second maybe once the throat erosion is too much maybe I can cut it down and re chamber maybe I don't know if it really works that way. Yes it's not really a stand and fire at a running deer type of rifle. I'm not in the same class as a lot of shooters on SH but I have a goal of 1mile with this rifle.

Oh I forgot. It's 52" overall and I'm having issues finding a decent soft sided case. I'd prefer a drag bag type style but can't find anything under $300.

First, I actually had the Midway drag bag. I instantly hated it. The zippers don't allow it to open flat, It had 2 seams that had opened up by themselves after zero usage, and the internal tie downs are in nowhere near the proper location to actually use to secure the rifle. I actually gave it to the builder of the rifle as part of the payoff, he's happy I'm happy.

The tall bipods, I haven't decided I like them yet or not. My Idea was primarily in my usage, I often shoot from tall grass and sometimes shoot laying on downhill slope. I also sometimes have to lay in snow. So my thought was taller bipods to give me the clearance to be above that all. (I don't explain myself well especially when typing, but if you've ever laid in tall grass and couldn't see 5' because of the grass, and couldn't/didn't feel comfortable taking a shot on that trophy buck 1000 yards out kneeling with a sling You know what I'm saying). Sometime in the future that trophy buck, might be a blue helmet, or a light skinned vehicle coming down my road. Not starting a political/militia conversation I'm just explaining the usage of the bipod in terms I know. When I'm actually hunting I carry a monopod shooting stick/walking stick, and this .300 is not my deer rifle.
I have a shorter set of bipods but they are on my .308 I understand lower is better, but not if I can't see.
I could be talked into a shorter set but I'd keep the talls also. Tell me if I'm thinking about it wrong I'm open to criticism.

Tall bipods are also great when calling coyotes or similar predators. I like to sit, especially if it is cold and/or snow on the ground. Tall bipod allows me to do that, run the call and maximize my field of view in rolling hills or wherever I'm set up. Once you get comfortable with shooting that way it works well.

Thanks Schrammy, I have sat just like you say and always had to shoot from the knee, prime example. I do plan on coyote hunting with this on occasion. I have to work some loads first.
