German teen Shouryya Ray solves Isaac Newton’s 350 yr problem

http://www.news.com.au/breaking-news/wor...i-1226368490521

Shouryya Ray worked out how to calculate exactly the path of a projectile under gravity and subject to air resistance, The (London) Sunday Times reported.

I cant seem to find the actual description of the problem, but the best i can find is:

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">The problem is to calculate the trajectory of a body thrown at an angle in the Earth's gravitational field and in a Newtonian fluid. His paper claims to be the first analytical solution to the problem.</div></div>

my question is, what do ballistics programs use now?

The government will give multi-million dollar grants for cow farts but would kick this kid out of school for drawing a picture of a bullet in flight.

Good for him. I hope he goes far.
