Guys I'm trying to come up with a good IFAK kit. Where do I start? I don't want anything that recommends that I be certified to use it. Just basic first aid. I don't want to start an I.V. or do surgery in the field, but I want to be prepared. Any ideas? Thank in advance.

Tactical Med solutions makes some awesome kits. I think their IFAK comes stocked for 65-70.

I carry multiples of their kits no fancy crap just the basics and a little room for some small extras.

Love doing business with them as well. The company was started by a former delta guy if my memory serves me correctly.

Take a look at the Adventure Medical Kits Field Trauma Kit and Trauma Pack, not overly "tactical" but has enough in it to take care of minor wounds and injuries. TacMed Solutions is a great company too, I have several of their Olaes bandages and think they're a great, versatile product, definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a kit like that.

I've bought a few things from Rescue Essentials, it's not a bad place to shop.

If you're putting together you're own kit I recommend adding a couple extra pairs of gloves, if you have one pair you're almost guaranteed to rip them at some point.

+1 for the NAR kits, we use their IFAKs at my USCG unit. The kit contents of what we deploy with is as follows:

HALO chest seal, 2 petrolium gauze pads, 2 pairs nitrile gloves, 1 roll med tape, 2 nasopharyngeal airway tube kits, 1 6" pressure dressing, 1 z folded gauze roll, 1 quick clot gauze roll and a CAT tourniqet.

All fits into a pouch about 6x6. This is just a basic survival kit till the doc shows up but it takes care of everything that kills you the fastest when the shit hits the fan.
