I was looking at the OPTICS FAQ posts and thought of a question.
What is your opinion on illuminating reticles? Any one use this option successfully? Or find that this option is not all its cracked up to be?

Re: illuminating reticle

Anyone use this option successfully? LOL. Come on man, what kind of question is that?

Everyone who uses it uses it successfully, I'd imagine. Turn the switch, and the ret. lights up.

I have had a non illuminated ret. wash out on a deer at dusk. All my hunting optics have a rheostat now.

Re: illuminating reticle

They work well in low light as designed. The only time I actually came close to using mine was at dusk hunting coyotes. And by the time I could use it we were pretty much shutting it down for the evening. It is just a option that is nice if you need it. Myself, I would not spend extra to have the option, but it came on the scope I bought as a standard feature.

I had asked the question like that because I had a conversation with someone about it and they said they didnt like it because he shot in a match and people who had used it got lower scores than he did.
