I was flippin through the latest American Rifleman and see the ubiquitous carbine uppers for you glock add . In a moment of sheer Daa I was pondering " manif I boughtv a high poinyt carbine I could probably work the trigger . " Next thing I know I'm spendin an hour checkin out the High Point forums . I feel so cheap, so dirty . Think I'm gonna record and force myself to watch the View as punishment . Maybe A1j could lend me his propane tank. Uhhhgggg .

I dont own one. And in fact i have never ever touched one. But while ugly as fuck and looking like a squirt gun from 1954 they are supposed to be reliable as an AK.

Now don't jump down my throat, that is just the word on the street. Accurate no, 15 lbs trigger yes, ugly fuck yes,

I personally wouldn't touch one with your dick. I do hear they go bang everytime though.

i dont see the point of pistol caliber carbines as "working guns"........if im gonna carry something the size of a rifle, its gonna shoot rifle rounds.....and if i only need a pistol caliber, im gonna just carry a pistol and save the weight.

as for a range toy?......i mean i guess........although personally ide rather save the money and buy something decent.

^^^ I will say that the Ruger .44 Mag Carbine is one of the best deer rifles for kids.... Small, light, good-hitting, almost no recoil. Great within ranges that young folks can reasonably shoot. And it's a single shot... if you give them one round at a time. Great little guns. And the Marlin 9mm camp carbine was a neat little rifle. And, technically, the M1 carbine was supposed to be a pistol replacement when introduced in WW2.

Today, they have niche purposes... and were nicely built and nice looking.

High Point seems, to me, to have few redeeming qualities... except affordability for those who can't afford better platforms... and who hopefully will graduate quickly.

Though if they are becoming 2a fans thanks to High Point ownership... who am I to complain. People bought lots of Yugos, once upon a time!

    Cheers,

I had one in 9mm. It was surprisingly accurate. Cheap gun with a cheap feel and an unusual recoil (more like vibration than recoil). It was actually a fun gun to shoot and rode around a good bit on my place. If you wanted something cheap to bungee to a 4 wheeler rack, worth considering.

Hi Point serves a niche in bringing 2A to those that can't afford it otherwise.

The manufacturer is very supportive of LE and is responsible on ensuring his affordability also does not enable those intent on criminal activity.
