I am the co-creator of Impact Scoring, a new scoring app tailored specifically for PRS, NRL, and precision rifle competitions. We recently launched the first public version and successfully used it at the PRS Pro Series Sharpshooter Showdown over the weekend. Our goal is for this app to become the standard in our sport, whether you're participating in a Pro Series match or simply scoring a friendly competition in your backyard or local range.

Version 1.1, our base app, is now available, and we have an exciting array of features planned for the coming weeks, months, and year. Users can register for matches directly through our app, or they can continue to use their Practiscore registrations and upload via .CSV. There's no need to synchronize between computers, tablets, and phones; All our devices automatically talk to eachother: IE you build your match out on the website (you can do it from a tablet still) it will auto upload to your tablet or phone. You can run a match entirely from a cell phone, making it accessible for smaller clubs. However, if you prefer, the app is also available for tablets on Amazon, iOS, and Google Play stores.

Scoring is live, provided you have LAN, Wi-Fi, or cell service. If connectivity is lost, the app will keep scoring live between devices, and once service is restored, it will automatically upload. Creating matches is now much easier, and we have some exciting new features in the pipeline. Match flow is simplified for the ROs, with clear target orders and "move" lines indicating when a shooter needs to transition between shots for better sequencing.

This weekend alone, our app attracted 27,000 viewers for live scoring during matches, and we believe it offers the alternative many of us have been seeking for years. If you have any questions or suggestions for features, please feel free to share them here. We have ambitious plans for Impact Scoring, and we envision it as the solution that competitive precision rifle shooting has been waiting for!

Or find it on any of the 3 major app stores

I’m missing where the number of engagements are specified then. I must be looking right over it, or not inputting the stages correctly.

Do you have an instruction video posted anywhere?
We will have them in the coming weeks as we get the app polished up. But just go add target and then select target 1. Do that as many times as the engagement requires. So say its 1 position 10 shots on 1 target, it will have 10 hit/miss boxes that all say target 1.

Just commenting to wish you the best of luck. Live scoring is a huge plus, as I’ve shot a few matches with it before and it’s hand down a way better experience than waiting around for results to post.

I agree and that's one of the big reasons we started this project. The PRS Pro Series match we ran over the weekend was great with up to the minute scoring at the tip of your fingers.

Is there or will there be an option to export to Practiscore?
No option to upload or export to PS but we can pull registration from their website as people transition over. We think we provide a better option than them so we are hoping the community will adopt us. We are in talks with all three of the major organisations to integrate with them and we are happy to set up stuff for the smaller organizations as well.

I haven't dug very deep yet, how are you uploading scores to the PRS website? Currently, MDs can upload scores from the PractiScore website, Ultimate Ballistics, or a CSV file. PS has plenty of shortcomings, but uploading scores directly from their website is pretty painless. I am very interested to follow along and see what you guys can offer the precision shooting community. Thanks for your efforts!

Once the match is complete, a CSV file is auto created for you to upload into the PRS website.

Big Updates for Impact Scoring!
We’ve got some exciting new features rolling out this week, and we’re just waiting for the app stores to approve the updates (fingers crossed for the next day or two!). Here’s what’s new:

NEW FEATURES AND IMPROVEMENTS

  • Payment Integration: Payments are now live and processed securely through Stripe.
  • Enhanced Registration: Shooters can now select squads during registration. In the next week, we’ll have squads and registered shooters visible to streamline participant organization.
  • Club Profiles: Clubs can showcase all their upcoming matches, allowing shooters to easily view schedules and register.
  • Bulk Email Notifications: In the next week, match directors can send updates to all registered shooters quickly and efficiently.
  • New Divisions and Categories: We are adding the Sportsman’s Division and Suppressor Category now that the rules have been published.
  • Social Features: A new “social” feature is being introduced, enabling interaction between shooters and clubs. This will continue to evolve with some exciting features planned for the future.
  • Offline Mode Upgrade: While Impact already functions offline, we’re developing a more user-friendly offline mode, aiming for release in the next two weeks.

WHAT’S IN THE PIPELINE?

  • Digital Matchbook Builder: A fully digital matchbook feature is in the works! It will automatically generate matchbooks based on stage data, including target names, distances, and movement details.
  • Shooter Analytics: We’re working on comprehensive shooter analytics for individual stages, full matches, and stage types. This tool will be valuable for match directors and shooters alike, rolling out in Spring 2025 with ongoing updates.

HOW WE’RE SUPPORTING YOU

Bill and I are always here to help! If you’re hosting a Pro Series match and want us to bring our comms gear to support, let us know—we’d be happy to add you to our schedule.
Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for being part of the Impact Scoring journey! If you have any questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to reach out.

So it's practiscore, but with live scoring?
We are working on offering much more than what PractiScore does. Yes, our core functions currently focus on shooter registration and scoring, which PS also provides. However, our scoring system is significantly simpler to use than PS. It makes ROs' lives easier by displaying shot sequences and required shooter movements. It's also more user-friendly for MDs when building matches. There's no need to sync anything, and matches can be run from cell phones instead of unreliable, ad-filled tablets that struggle to hold a charge.

We have many features in development, including digital match books that are automatically created for MDs, augmented reality to show target locations on the range, integrated ballistic programs, and shooter/MD analytics, just to name a few. This system was created by shooters within the community, rather than being an afterthought—something that often feels like the case with PS.

I sent this out to our MDs today but it has some great info for everyone in it:

First, thank you all for registering and supporting Impact Scoring over the past few months. We know that change is never easy, even when it’s necessary, and we truly appreciate your trust in us as we continue to refine and improve our platform.
I wanted to provide you with an update on Impact Scoring and highlight some exciting features and enhancements coming in the weeks and months ahead.
Current Features and Updates
  1. Registration with Payment, Self-Squadding, and Bulk Emails
  • These features are fully operational, enabling you to manage your match seamlessly through our registration system.
  • While transitioning, you can continue using PractiScore for registration and easily upload a CSV file into Impact.
  1. Live Scoring
  • Our online and live scoring feature works flawlessly, and shooters love seeing live updates throughout the match.
  • We’re also seeing increased engagement from spectators, bringing more visibility to our sport.
  1. Offline Scoring
  • While fully functional, we’ve identified areas for improvement
  • We’re redesigning offline scoring to enhance match setup and usability. The updated version, rolling out by mid-January, will be even more user-friendly and intuitive.
  • In the meantime, if you plan to run offline scoring, please reach out to me or Bill for guidance.
Match Calendars
One of our primary goals is to make it easier for new shooters to find matches locally and across the U.S.
  • Our search function is simple and efficient, and we encourage you to upload your 2025 match calendars to the app/website.
  • By doing this, we can:
  • Build a more comprehensive shooting season.
  • Promote your matches through weekly posts and club highlights.
  • Drive more shooters to your events.
Shooters can also click on your club link to view all your upcoming matches, making it even easier to find and register for events.
Coming Soon
  1. Digital Match Books
  • Using the data you input during stage setup, we’ll auto-generate a match book and stage briefs for shooters.
  • A PDF version will also be available for printing.
  1. Shooter Analytics
  • Post-match, both MDs and shooters will receive a detailed analytics package, including performance insights, areas for improvement, and more.
  1. Integrated Ballistics
  • We’re in discussions with ballistic apps to integrate real-time ballistics into digital match books based on current range conditions. We aim to have a version ready by 2025.
  1. Augmented Reality
  • To streamline match flow, we’re developing a feature that uses augmented reality to help shooters locate targets on a stage.
  • Shooters can use their phones to view target locations based on pins dropped by the MD, reducing setup time and confusion.
National and Large Matches
If you’re hosting a national-level or high-attendance match and would like assistance, Bill and I are happy to help and come out!
  • We can assist with setup, provide communications gear, or simply make your job easier.
  • Let us know as we’re currently scheduling for the 2025 season.
Thank you again for your incredible support, and we wish you a wonderful holiday season. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need assistance.
