I know this is a pretty bold suggestion, but who else also supports the drafting of a Vigilance Act that enables citizens to use lethal force to respond to predatory LE action if A: the subject of LE predation has not brandished a weapon or otherwise necessitated the use of force to bring them down and B: if the subject of predatory LE action is not the subject of a felony arrest involving a crime against life ie, murder, child abuse, rape, etc.?
Whenever a camera is recording an officer viciously beating and brutalizing someone, that camera can very well be the scope of a hunting rifle, and in a land populated by the highest density of proficient marksmen, I think everybody is aware of that on the deepest level. But in most circumstances, even if someone is able to respond in that fashion, they will not because the legal aftermath will be severe. "The defendant standing here today has been charged with first degree murder, for the wanton murder of an officer of the law doing their duty, from far away using a rifle made for long range shots..." You can almost hear a prosecuting attorney reading that to a courtroom. The Vigilance Act will enable concerned bystanders to use such force to intervene in narrow circumstances when it is clear that a citizen is about to be the victim of a homicide committed in the name of law by uniformed agents. Once again, this subject is extremely tricky to navigate and it is not meant to start shit and create a divide in the RKBA community, but it is just an idea of how to drastically cut down on the obviously huge amount of abuse cases that are happening every day.
The Vigilance, or Militia (or Minuteman) Act, will pretty much deputize every member of the armed citizen body as a fulltime member of the peacetime militia as defined by the 2nd Amendment, if one wishes to join. Regional organization, criteria for joining, the establishment of jurisdiction, training, proficiency, will be up to local chapters if local committees set up under the Act chooses to set up organizational structure.
