Given the latest antics by the current administration, I picked up some brass-cased 7.62x29 ammo from Tactical Shit Shop, which is of MESKO (Polish) brand.
It appears to be “new” manufacture, and the boxes are labeled in English.
Does anyone have any info on this ammo, and specifically if it’s corrosive or not?
Thanks!
Marc

I don't know your answer, but I thought the corrosion came from old berdan primers. I too have been buying up brass cased, sub-sonic, as well as any good deals I find on steel cased ammo. Been reading on reloading steel cases, I have a hydraulic berdan deprimer tool as well as 5K berdan primers. The problem with reloading now, like ammo, is the lack of decent supply/prices.

Well, I’m going to back track on my earlier statement. I found one reference that said corrosive, but the majority of others say non-corrosive. Either way, the toxicity of Mercury fulminate probably trumps the potassium chlorate corrosivity. And, Mercury fulminate both breaks down over time and embrittles brass, which are issues for long term storage…

I've only ventured into the IGMAN brand. I've seen MESKO in 9mm as well as STV, BPS and stuff (I had a thread on this a while back). Since I don't own any "commie stuff" (LOL), I don't know about MESKO in your use-case; but it's going to make me do more research on other calibers. So thanks!!

Hmm. We’ll, I’m an obsessive gun cleaner after just about every shoot, and in the case of the AK (PSA AK-47 GF3 with a nitrided barrel), that includes cleaning the gas tube and the area just aft the trunnion.
The research I’ve done indicates soapy water for initial step of cleaning after shooting corrosive ammo. I’m thinking a 50/50 Simple Green solution with a few drops of Dawn will to the trick in a spray bottle to remove the corrosive salts, with regular barrel cleaning process and lube in the appropriate spots to finish off.
I’ll shoot some of the MESKO, clean as per the above, wait a couple of weeks and report back.
Thanks to the contributions so far; if anyone else has info on the MESKO 7.62x39, your input is appreciated!
