I wasn't sure where this belonged, so if it needs to be moved to a more appropriate sub-forum, moderators please do so
OK guys, I think I've had time now and am ready to start dealing with some of this, so please bear with me.
My Uncle "Zig" has passed on. He was known here on Sniper's Hide as Zig. He didn't post much, but he hit the site on a daily basis to read. He passed back in August in a motorcycle accident as he was on his way home from a bike riding week in NC with my Dad (Zig's older brother). Zig and I were very close, even though we lived over 1,000 miles apart
Zig was a Navy diver, and unsung hero. He trained with many Spec Ops teams, including S.E.A.L.S but always was very adamant that "I am a Navy Diver, not a S.E.A.L., but I've had the pleasure to train and work with many of our Spec Ops guys and they are the best in the biz". He also served as secret service (in some form) during the Reagan administration, if I remember correctly.
He was a modest and humble man and anyone that ever met him would tell you the same.
After his retirement due to disability, he took up gunsmithing and was a quick study. He trained with Jeff Cooper and then DR Middlebrooks. He began building custom pistols and shooting in some matches. He always loved the shooting sports in all aspects.
When he passed, he left me "plenty of things to remember him by". The problem I have, is that many of these items, I have little to no knowledge about. This is why I turn to you guys here on the Hide.
Here is my first of many questions:
What exactly do I have here?
I've looked it up in the blue book and can't find anything that matches exactly in description. It is a Remington 700, chambered in 300 Remington Ultra Magnum. It has the dual front swivels and palm swell in the stock like a 700P but is not marked anywhere.
Please let me know what I have here. I've included some pics to help explain
Also, if you knew Zig, please share a story or two, and I"ll do the same. I could write a whole thread of our experiences together and stories I've heard but I always welcome new ones
Thanks for your help fellas
