Installing Bolt on an AR15?

Hey guys,

So im going with an AR15 build... After doing some research, Ive seen some builds with a modified BCG, with a bolt extension installed, to manually operate the bolt.

How is this done? I cannot find any tutorial,

I guess I should first be asking does it increase accuracy at all? honestly I just think it looks cool (ha ha)

anyone have any info on this conversion?

That does look pretty sexy and slightly useful. However, I can't help but think that it would have some affect on the accuracy or cycling.

they do not adversely affect accuracy or function---i do not use uppers with the forward assist on anything but "battle rifles" anymore as I have never used the forward assist for any reason---slickside uppers are handy and useful--over half my uppers have no"M4 cuts and work perfectly also---the downside to side-charger is addtl costbut they function perfectly

As far as I'm aware, to have a side charger, you've got to buy the upper receiver that comes with it. To accomodate the side charging handle, the upper receiver has to be purpose built. I guess you could get the ejection port cut to accomodate the charging handle, but it seems like it would be better to just buy the receiver.

I had an Alexander Arms side charging upper and was thouroughly impressed. +1 on the slick side receivers, I wish more companies made them. My dream upper receiver would be a VLTOR monolithic, with slick sides, side charger, and a sealed battle charger port.

I have the LAR upper receiver with the side charge handle. I have used it for 3-gun competitions. It works well.
