Sportsman Ultra Light HD .300 & .36

Available 9/13/24 at 5pm CST

Perfect for any outdoorsman looking for an extremely durable and lightweight suppressor, the new Sportsman Ultra Light HD™ .300 & .36 were designed as a moderate back pressure option for hunters at an affordable price. Fully welded of 17-4 stainless steel, Sportsman Ultra Light HD™ Suppressors are rated for pressures up to .300 RUM for the .300, and .338 LM for the .36.

The original Sportsman Ultra Light Suppressors were made from aluminum, a necessary material at the time to achieve lightweight suppression. The Sportsman Ultra Light HD™ series is constructed using tubeless laser-welding technology, which allows the use of much more durable 17-4 stainless steel while maintaining similar weights to aluminum or titanium. The stronger material allows for more abusive firing schedules, and provides peace of mind to hunters knowing their suppressor can handle whatever they throw at it.

The new Sportsmans feature Griffin's patented ECO-FLOW™ baffle technology to minimize user exposure to toxic gases, and decrease system backpressure to provide better functioning on gas-operated hosts. Industry-standard 1.375x24 HUB threading allows users to utilize any HUB mount adapters from Griffin as well as other manufacturer's mounting systems if desired. A featureless end cap design was chosen to keep these suppressors as affordable as possible.

Sportsman Ultra Light HD™ suppressors are machined in Griffin’s Watertown, Wisconsin facility by freedom loving Americans.

There's effectively no barrel length restrictions, but it is a tubeless can so be smart. Most of these calibers only come in barrel lengths longer than what we would recommend anyway when used for hunting:
.300RUM/.338LM - 24"
.300WM - 20"
.308Win - 16"
.338 Federal - 16"
.350 Legend - 16"
7.62x39 - 8"
6.8 SPC - 12.5"
.300BLK; 8"
5.56mm 10.5"
Barrel length restriction?

Very Nice. I just got 2 of the ECCO machine TI XL Taper HUB adapters to run on some other cans. The XL taper mounts are sold out on the website.

Does the Taper mount that comes with it work on the old 2"+ flashcomps or just the newer/shorter taper mounts?

It might work with the XL but unfortunately it wont be compatible with the Plan A or the Plan A long.

I have 1 of the original Sportsman and 3 Sportsman Ultralights in .30. I was thinking about a Sportsman UL in .338 for my 33 Nosler, but the Sportsman HD really has me thinking. Any thought on how they would compare sound wise?

Unfortunately we don't have any sound testing data on the old Sportsman to compare it to, but the new Sportsman's have the most up to date and finely tuned baffle stacks so the answer is more than likely yes, they are higher performing than the original Sportsman.

We're currently editing the Sportsman HD sound testing video, so stay tuned we will be releasing that on YouTube sometime next week! You'll at least be able to see the hard data numbers on the new ones!

Thanks for the info, the Black Friday deal forced me to get the HD, looking forward to testing it out.

I'm curious on this as well. I intended to snag the 30 cal version but y'all were out so had to go with the 36 cal. Curious if there will be a perceivable difference on say a 6cm, 7 Sherman Short, or 6.5PRC? Past experience kinda tells me no but I wanted to ask since the published results weren't out. I've been running the original SiCo Hybrid for years now with a Ti Hellfire and 30 cal end cap and the can always surprises me with how quiet it is on my 7 Sherman Short.

Did you end up with 30 or 36 cal?

I went with the .36, its for a 33 Nosler I'm putting together, aiming for 20 or 22", mostly since the regular Sportsman Ultralight has a minimum barrel restriction, and the HD doesn't. I was using my Hybrid 46 with a 9mm front cap on my 338-06 (I sold it an am replacing it with the 33nos), it does sound pretty good, but I'm planning on dedicating that can to another rifle now.

I found the Hybrid to be significantly louder side by side with my Q Porq Chop in 8.6blk, but its been good with any supersonic cartridge I've used it on. I was always sure that the HD can would sound good, just wondering how Griffin felt it compared to the legacy Sportsman cans since I have a ton of hunting trigger time with them. Last deer reason my BIL shot a muley in a tight canyon with a 20" 300wm and a Sportsman UL with the can not far from my head, and I had no ringing at all, just reinforced for me how well they've always done.

I've been shooting a ton of 6arc and 6br through one of my Ultralight .30s, and despite the overbore it sounds great.

I’ve been running my 7 Sherman shirt through my hybrid with a 30 cal end cap and it sounds pretty great honestly. That can has always impressed me for what it is. I also run it on our 6cm. Just want to mirror those results but lighter with the griffin

Would love any sound testing on 350 legend.

Was just looking at a bushwhacker before I saw this.
