Hi Guys,

Wonder if you can help me with this.

Had a problem with my iPhone, apple shop recommended total re-set.

Did a back-up, then the total re-set. Connected back to my Mac and tried to restore the iPhone.

Got my photo's and wallpaper back OK, but none of my purchased apps, so no weather data, no bulletflight, etc...

How do I get my apps back onto my iPhone??

You can e-mail me. Luddite @...

Any/all help very gratefully received.

Thanks, Guys,

Neil

Re: iPhone problems

On your phone, go to App Store. Then go to Updates tab. You should see purchased on top of the screen. Select that and it should show you all the apps that you download/purchase previously.

Re: iPhone problems

If the above don't work, which it should, re-download the purchased apps. The app store will recognize that you have already purchased the app.

Are the apps backed up on your Mac? If so, plug your iPhone into the Mac and drop and drag the apps to the iPhone.

Went to 'updates', all I got was"No Updates" in the middle of my screen. No 'purchased' tab at the top, ust a plain grey screen with no updates in the centre!

Apps are on my Mac. Tried to drag & drop, no joy there either!

Reluctant to re-download everything, as something hinkey is going on, and dont want to get charged again!

The funny thing is, all the pre-loaded apps are in the correct places (ie. second or 3rd screen), but where MY apps should be, there are just blank spaces.

Since synching the iPhone to the mac hasn't worked, NOR has restoring from back-up, should I now try to treat the phone as if it is a new phone. Will that put all of my stuff from my mac onto the iPhone?

Thanks for the help guys,

Neil

Re: iPhone problems

You won't. It will look like it is charging you but as you go through the process it will tell you that you have already purchased this app and will just download it. As long as you use the same account you will not have a prob. I have done the same thing and I had to re-download.

Re: iPhone problems

This is from apple support:

Open the App Store on your device.
Make sure you are signed in with the same account used for the original purchase.
Tap on Purchased from the bottom navigation bar.
*On iPhone or iPod touch, tap Updates from the bottom navigation bar, then tap Purchased.

Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download button.

The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

Re: iPhone problems

A total re-set is basically a new phone. But your account with apple is not.

If you have doubts about the process just call Apple, they are going to tell you the same thing.

If the phone is not syncing, you need to call Apple anyway. Either the phone was not synced properly or there is another problem with the phone. But like I said, as long as you use the same iTunes account and login info, there will be no problem.

One iTunes is open you can go to file and force sync the iPhone.
Are you accessing the phone while it tries to sync? Bring up iTunes and when when you connect the phone do not do anything with the phone. It should show up on your Mac as sync in process. Once it is done then open the phone up. If this don't work then you have another problem and Apple needs to be notified.

Re: iPhone problems

Sorry for not replying earlier, I was in Jo'Burg. Just got back this morning.

Wandered into the apple shop there, told them my tale of woe, but mine seems to be a peculiar problem.

I HAVE solved the problem, by just treating the phone as a new phone, and it has put everything back onto the phone. Seemed a bit pointless backing everything up, if you cannot restore from a total re-set.

Anyway, I now have to re-arrange all of my icons back to their familiar places, but the phone is back in working order, and all the apps work (apart from 2 which used to work, but now say that they need a newer version of the operating system, but my iPhone says that it is up to date and that there are no new updates! - weird).

Thanks for all of the help guys, I really appreciate it.

Neil
