Night Vision IR laser with Clip on

Setting up a night rifle and have a question about IR lasers with a clip on thermal.

I’m running a UTM on a riser in front of a NXS 1-8 both at 1.93” height.

For those running similar setups, will an ATPIAL mounted on the top rail be so high that it will occlude too much of the thermal objective?

If it does, would a better solution be to run the ATPIAL at the 3 o’clock position, or would a MAWL be a better solution than running the side mounted ATPIAL?

The ATPIAL is plenty low, I presume you want it for your head mounted NODS or to ID targets for those with I2 devices. The MAWL is however a much better device.

Yes, I just need it for head mounted nods. Mainly looking to use it under 200yds and I *think* the ATPIAL would work for what I need it for, but wanted to see if others had issues with it occluding the thermal before I purchased either.

even at a 1.5" height you should be fine. i use a super yoter in between an acog and a dbal a3 with no issues. i believe the dbal is even taller than the atpial. you might want to look into a unit with a better illuminator for 200 yards though. the mawl is nice but carries a nice price , the new holosun unit looks promising at a good price point
