Is 1.35inch diameter barrel shank necessary for 33cal calibers?

Thinking adding 338LM or 338NM to my collection for long range, not sure if it is necessary to order a 1.35inch diameter barrel blank or the most common 1.25inch one is enough?
what's the most common barrel length and contour for normal target shooting(not ELR like competition)?
1:9.5 twist is enough for either Lapua Mag or Normal Mag, right?

Thanks

Here's a 1.250" for barrel for 338 Lapua case head, 26" long Remington Varmint countour...but 510 caliber.
Yes it works... Is it the best?
Depends on what you're going to do with it.
Most do not want a 16 to 22 plus pound carry rifle in the field.
30" or longer heavy palma barrel to get maximum velocity.
A 9 twist would be better for some of the heavy high BC bullets, now and in the future...check out the requirements of those manufacturers, especially the long lathe turned bullets to help you decide.
A heavy BAT action and a 1.350 barrel 31" might fit this endevor.
Or running around the mountains hunting, a totally lighter package, a shorter, lighter contour barrel, with a lighter action, would be much more desirable.
The choices are yours.
