Suppressors Is AAC being shut down?

It's been years since Remington/Freedom Group acquired AAC, like a decade or close to it.
Why would anyone hope for the demise of a company providing services and products that are in demand?
Why would anyone hope that those employees lose their jobs?
Yes, 8 years ago was the buy out. There have been rumors of the AAC brand being eliminated for the past 4 years. Their lack of new products and heavily discounted inventory the past year is the writing on the wall.
Because their products are shit and their service is shit. Better for the industry if companies like that aren't around so consumers have one less shitbird to avoid. As far as being in demand, the last time that I checked the entire gun industry is suffering and sales have been in the shitter for over a year. Suppressor sales have suffered even worse due to people buying crap loads pre-41f, as well as hopes of HPA.
The good guys that were once there have all but left, those who still are I'm sure will find more work.
Fuck AAC.
I wouldn't be so quick to curse AAC. They made their contribution to the suppressor world, their time is just over. I love my SDN6 for SBR's after a little DIY shoulder filing.
If you bought a paperweight, paid a tax stamp on it, waited almost a year to get it, have major manufacturing defects and send it back and forth over the course of 4 years only to be told fuck off, we no longer have the parts to properly fix your can... You'd probably sing a different tune.

Yes, their customer service today sucks. Why not file a claim against them? Issues with AAC are widely known, especially their current incompetent support and engineers I've had unfortunate dealings with. You would judge a 25 year old company based on their past 5 years history? That's like saying a 1923 cadillac rides like shit. Of course it does by today's standards, but the m42k was the golden goose when it came out and was innovative. It's no surprise AAC went to shit after Remington bought them 8 years ago, as most things that Remington/FG touch.

According to ATF website, AAC no longer has an FFL. We also know current silencers are being xferred with Remington listed as MFG on the forms. So it sure does appear AAC as a company is gone, whether AAC remains as a brand or they move it all to Remington remains to be seen.
If I were Kevin Brittingham, I'd buy it back for pennies on the dollar using the money they paid me out in the lawsuit he won against them in Federal Court. That'd be a hoot.
All this on top of the Remington bankruptcy news. Doesn't look good at all.

So what benefit does it provide the market if they make shit products and have garbage CS? Doesn't matter how good their products used to be, that doesn't help any current consumers.
Pretty dumb and irrelevant analogy. Not even close to being apples to apples.
Its good for a few customers in the short term when products are heavily discounted, but long term it hurts everyone. The discounting company will not be around to service these *lucky customers in the future. And this also causes consumers to believe silencers should cost less. Margins drop with the prices, then there is no money to innovate. R&D is expensive. So, don't jump on the close outs, support companies forging ahead with quality products and innovation.
This is so laughable. I guess their great products are the reason I'm shipping my Ranger 2 off to another manufacturer to fix that is factory defective and AAC got back numerous times over a 4 year period only to finally tell me in 2016 that they can't repair my suppressor because they no longer have the parts to do so... After it was sent back twice while the model was still being distributed and they did NOTHING to fix it. The threads inside aren't concentric to the bore of the can or shoulder of the end cap and shouldn't be a tough repair.
Dare I mention the issues I've had with my 762-SD and it's bullshit 18T mounting system that I had to buy nearly $2K worth of mounts to get a few that it will actually lock up on without coming loose in two rounds after being tightened down with hulk strength. Or the issues I had with my M4-2000.
Yeah, AAC products are GREAT... Maybe compared to a form 1 can made from cast iron pipe and a stack of washers.
I have three suppressors from AAC. While I have never had to deal with the customer service the cans have served me well and my only complaint, though minor, is the quality of their coating which does not hold up well. They work and that's all I expected from them. I didn't expect the most innovative suppressors but then again they were less expensive than others.
Yeah, funny, but like what I'm doing now. They offered for me to go back to run AAC before they paid me. I declined.
You're just showing your ignorance of the industry. Many of the rank and file employees that made AAC successful to begin with are still there, so you just said "F*** them". When Remington bought AAC, it was Remington's plan that they would get back to making suppressors only, thus liquidating all their firearms inventory. Remington did a lousy job of making that transition happen. The reason customer service at AAC is crap is because of their integration with Remington. Remington went on a decade-long buying spree, picking up every small, successful niche company they could. Now, through their own mismanagement, they're bringing all those once-awesome companies into bankruptcy with them. If you're so bent out of shape because you got some poor customer service that you're happy to see a bunch of good people become unemployed, then you're a special kind of snowflake. If you're looking for someone to blame, put it squarely on Remington. They screwed up several companies for all of us.
Well, most of their designs are still better than most companies currently produced stuff. AAC quality control and customer service has obviously gone to shit, I agree, but that is a different issue from the technology. I would not buy anything from them based a lot of reasons, but the technology and potential are not the reasons.
The Element is still quieter and lighter than 99% of the current .22 silencers. It's a decade old.
The Ti-Rant 9mm is still the quietest and the industry standard for 9mm pistol silencers. It's a decade old.
The 762-SDN6 is the new SiCo Camaro (or whatever the name is). It's durable and quiet. It's heavy and a decade old, but still a great silencer.
The list is long.
Now, if they hire day laborers that can't build quality products, it sucks, but a different issue.
AAC does suck now, and that's sad. But, there are several companies offering great products that can better support you.
Yes, paint wears and burns off. This is why we started PVD'ing silencers at SIG and now Q.

Yes, fuck them. They had multiple opportunities to fix the situation. If there are good employees still there, then I'm sure they won't have trouble finding work. The bad ones, like I said, fuck them.
The employees that made AAC great are not there now, and haven't been for a long time.It was not Remington's plan to "get back to making silencers". We only made silencers until after I sold the company to Remington, at that point we branched out, and that was the plan. They liquidated guns years after the acquisition and I was fired.
By the way, several of the employees helped set me and others for the promise of promotions and raises. This is well documented in the judge's order. We all got what we deserved.
I do not own any AAC products, but if I were in the market for something they offered, I would not consider them. Knowing of the problems that others have had and the widespread publication of those problems, why would I spend my money with them and have the false "comfort" that "I could just file a claim against them" if I had problems ? I am not interested in making AAC's problems my problems, or those of any other vendor for that matter. As far as the employees @ AAC ? I am sorry that they may lose their jobs, but as cold hearted as it sounds, I am under no obligation to invest my money in a known to be problematic product and organization, just to (maybe) save the employees' jobs. I do not wish for AAC to "go under". I'd prefer to see them clean up their act and get back into the game, but I suspect that ship has already (perhaps long since) sailed. I'll probably never be in the market for a Vectronix Terrapin type of product, but my feelings are the same about them. After seeing so many people have so many problems with both of those organizations, I'm not going near either of them.
There are many good vendors to choose from and I will spend more to support those vendors that support their customers, through good times and bad.
That’s great to hear, I don’t care what you do but you missed the point. The point was they were the best option back in the day, and were pioneers in the QA development, which other companies improved off of.
I think it is you that missed the point my friend. For an example, re-read post 11 from Redneck. I am fortunate in that I never purchased anything from AAC, so I am not at risk of suffering through any of the same problems that he and numerous others on this thread have had to endure. I completely understand and agree with his perspective.
Simply stated, I will not do business with any company that has such a consistently shitty track record as AAC, regardless of them being perceived as "the best option" or "pioneers in the QA development" in the past. Seems like there are a lot of people on this thread that are of a similar mindset.

Don't think so, and not taking time to scroll through the cluster of posts to wander off topic; the point of the thread is whether AAC was closing doors, not a pissing match of whether you should buy one or not. Nobody cares, old discussion with plenty of info already out there. In 20 years, we will all be whining that Thunderbeast is a POS scumbag whore company compared to new developments. Shit changes.
You missed the deal on Evo9s a few years back. I now have one on a 300BLK and a Hipoint 9mm rifle.
I hope AAC makes it. They made the 300 whisper mainstream. Too bad freedom group has the opposite of the Midas touch.
