Is anyone using the Steiner 830r LRF Binos?

I'm interested in purchasing a set of LRF binos for sniper/team style competitions where we will be find-range-engaging targets. There are plenty of options in the $1.2-$3k price range, but the Steiner's are the only LRF binos with a Mil reticle. I cannot find much written, real first hand experience with the Steiner 830r LRF.

I have them, and have been pretty pleased. The reticle can be useful for walking friends onto targets or animals if they use mils or in a team setting. The glass is pretty good and 8X is sufficient for scanning and finding targets.

The rangefinder is nice because once you locate your target with the binos you can range it. Most steel and soft targets are doable out to 1000 yds and I have gotten ranges at 2000+ on bigger reflective targets. The aiming circle for the laser is smaller than Leicas for example which is helpful, especially once you find where your laser hits in your reticle. As with all rangefinders and binos performance is enhanced by tripod use. They do pretty well in bright sunlight but again, that’s the toughest condition for any rangefinder.

I recently used these at the NF ELR match in Casper, WY and was able to spot most misses or impacts almost as well as 15X Swaros out to 2100 yds. To be clear; I’m not saying they were as good as Swarovski, but they were able to do much of what higher priced binos were doing.
