Does any one have experience with ratios other than matte. And if so, is satin or semi gloss more durable/scratch resistant than matte. Does any one know what factories use, such as LWRC or others?

The 9h hardness of Cerakote is from the atomized ceramic not the hardener. The hardener only acts as a catalyst. So, in theroy, the more hardener, the less ceramic in the final mix. However, in practice, there is very little measurable difference in the hardness and wear resistance when properly applied to firearms.

Red Creek, thanks for that info. That makes perfect sense. I however did not describe my question very well. I was looking at it from the sense of surface texture. Does more texture allow an impact to "dig in" instead of "slide off". Mabye I am splitting hairs.

The sheen would'nt be a factor in scratch resistance as the surface differance would be microscopic.

Matte, however does smudge easier and retains dirt and smudges more, where the satin and gloss are more smudge resistant and wipe down easier.

Graphite Black in Cerakote is the best you can get between Matte and gloss, and its a very nice finish, when you first apply it ,it looks glossy but as soon as it dries you will be very pleased with it indeed.

You determine the sheen, matte, satin, gloss, in H-Series Cerakote colors, including Graphite Black by what ratio you mix it. So you can have Graphite Black in a range of sheens. It all looks wet and glossy when you apply it (no matter how you mix it) and the final sheen is manifest when cured.

I use the air dry series,so no you dont choose how it comes out by the mix as its pre-mixed,when dry it looks in-between semi-gloss and matte in color which is a perfect choice between the two finishes.
