So I am a certified old fart now and as such I was out for my afternoon walk when I found myself in a new and interesting situation. I found myself if not directly in, very close to someone's line of fire, I could hear the gunshots closely followed by ricochets (Subsonic, either pistol or PCC). If had to guess I was less than 100-ish yards from the rounds point of impact and rather close to being directly down range from the shooters position. The problem was that I was on a bike / walking path in a "good" part of town at exactly 12 noon, not up in the mountains on the other side of a hill from a DNR shooting range.

Obviously this was a freak occurrence of me just being in the exact wrong place at the exact wrong time, but it did get me curious. I have a ring doorbell and I see all the time people posting about gunshots at various timers of day and night. Are you guys seeing a rise in gun violence or random shootings where you live or is the ghetto slowly moving in to my neighborhood? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts or personal experiences if you have a similar one. I did talk to a sheriffs deputy and they did find spent cartridges but I did not want to ask too many questions and appear suspicious.

I have no illusions that I was being intentionally shot at, you have to be pretty damn close to hear that buzz. I'm glad I was hearing ricochets, none the less it was an um "interesting" experience.

The thing is, the "ghetto", or the hood, is changing. Has been changing since the last decade when a lot of places are being bought and sold to big time developers wanting to put up condos, casinos, and things like Amazon order fulfillment centers in places where the housing projects stand. While the projects are there, all of the gangs and cliques are usually anchored there as well. They got their block, their liquor store, their gas station, etc, that they hang out at and hustle. War zones are where these gangs and other gangs in the area overlap. And that is about the extent of it.

Now you got developers taking the projects down and causing folks who lived there to move to other parts of town. Now you got what is called hybrid gangbanging. You got one crew who was formerly just active in one area suddenly having to either beef and full on scrap with up to 3 or 4 other crews in other parts of the city that they relocated to, or the alternative, clique up with the new boys and face being seen by some of your own crew's leadership as committing treason. So now you got this old crew split up into 2 or more new factions, a few who don't mind banging with the other crews in the new part of town, and the old dogs who see it as war declared on THEM, and they are just as liable to shoot one member of their own crew for this betrayal, as they will a banger from the other cliques. This is how gang wars become nomadic and escalate from what once was limited to one or two blocks, to almost a whole city. These new hybrid gangs move around, rocking vans and trucks and packing A LOT of ratchets. If they run into ONE rival filling up at a gas station even way out of town, or shopping, or getting tattoos or whatever, in any part of the city or county, a full scale battle WILL break out right there, and it doesn't matter if another crew has only one dude there caught by surprise and outgunned, they WILL fight it out and keep shooting right up to the end just to prove to the rest of their boys how loyal and committed to gangbanging they are. The hustle right now is not confined to one block or projects now. It is all along ANY route, highway, whatever, where drugs and other shit are being moved. Hybrid gangs work with multiple other groups, including old rivals which they would have killed 10 or 20 years ago, to move product and make money.

Mi DNR has imposed a $500 dollar fine for any deer harvested that isn’t registered on line inside 72 hours, and the funny part is the on line registration system works about as good as the federal unemployment benefits during WhuFlu.
They’ve basically camped out at any higher shop processing center meat packer buck pole the like .
If ya really want to know the funny part ; before this decree came out the DNR decided to make black powder season an “any weapons” season because of the size of deer herd , deer car accidents ect. The they slipped this new regulation of mandatory registration just before season- with the $500 fine because voluntary registration was so low that they claimed they have no idea what the deer herd looks like numbers or Health wise . The voluntary registration for the last several years was a pain in the ass- drive to one of a few locations make an appointment and have some Nazi Dick or fat dyke grill ya on the when why how and where .

I was not wearing anything that would identify me as a gun owner, republican or as a part of my profession, I was wearing a camo ballcap, black jacket and dark grey pants. There is a clear line of sight from the area the shots came from but you would need a scope or binoculars to positively identify someone, I was about 250 yards away from where the shots came from so I'm guessing that this was just a shitbag gang banger who saw a nature area and wanted to try his newly "acquired" piece and had no idea what was down range of him.

I'm 99.9999% positive there were pistol rounds (or maybe some flavor of rimfire rifle) and subsonic (at least by the time they were close to me) thus hearing the gun shot and then the ricochet a bit later. A high powered super-sonic round is un-mistakably different sounding than a pistol and would have been the only way to hear the ricochet before the actual gunshot and this is not what I experienced.

I don’t know if the shortage in hero power really has that much to do with it ; we’re they fully staffed during the 200+ nights of race riots /communist insurrection. And nation wide what has there been 3 convictions for the rioters- one for murder and one for burning 5 cars . I don’t know if police staffing is part of the problem- or one of the causes . Because it was crystal clear by night 3 that the orders were to arrest any standing against the mob. And I’ve lots of video footage of the hero’s being groceries and med supplies to the commies in the two areas they claimed as “sovereign territory”. If they cared about “public safety”, these police departments would announce to the public that they are to protect and defend themselves, the people around them, and their property like what is nautural and right and that the officers will not intervene. Criminals must fear us but policy and the police make sure that is unlikely.

Using the “law” against men who would otherwise defend themselves and their communities is tyranny. We don’t have public safety in this country. We have tyranny. This country is descending into a shithole. There is no such thing as a "good part of town" as long as we let the garbage of the earth across our borders without so much as a wave. My current state pays human garbage nearly $100K a year in wages and benefits to run wild and remain unemployed. I am heading towards retirement and am apparently far less dangerous looking than I used to be. There is no chance I'd step in to stop them and no way I'd even look at a public wife beating with anything more than indifference. So when I hear shots, I look for cover and wait it out. If they are not coming for me or my wife, my gun stays holstered and my head is on a swivel. As long as it does not involve me then it is not my problem. Even Idaho and Montana are becoming questionable these days. Legalized drugs have led to rampant crime. My truck got broken into and my backpack and gun stolen 25 feet from the front of a business I was in and the employees just fucking watched. They didn't get me or call the cops or even yell at the asshole and when I asked why, they said, "we don't get involved". I cancelled my order and ended my business with them forever. I still lost $3,000 worth of gear, gun, cash, checkbook, wind meter, Surefire light and a bracelet made from my Dad's WWII jump wings that I carried since Iraq. Fucking cops never even showed up, my cell number was the case number because they no longer give case numbers to crimes. 0% chance of seeing anything again, it will be sold on Facebook, Ebay, Amazon or Craigslist with ZERO consequences for the thieves.
