Rifle Scopes Is rifle scope still under itar

I have a Athlon rifle scope, a acog, a rmr, and Bushnell spotting scope, can I bring those optics to Canada?

Seem like itar changed recently. In the link below, it says "
Rifle scopes are being completely removed from the jurisdiction of the ITAR, except those captured by USML Category XII.
"

Correct that most scopes have been removed from ITAR control as have most firearms...BUT that does not mean they are free willy for travels, lol.

They have been moved to Department of Commerce control. Which is easy peasy but still requires a few documents to be submitted and logged.

So is this something I can fill out being a buyer in Canada? Or do I have to get the seller to fill them out?
Also, would this work for used items? This would be awesome if we could use the EE for optics!

Would be fantastic if the process of exporting a rifle scopes was greatly improved.
I've bought them back in my carry-on luggage in the past, but would be nice to know that I wasn't risking going to prison.

I would like to revive this thread as I have a similar question. I wanted to buy a scope in the US and take it to Europe. I contacted some brands and asked whether specific scopes would fall under ITAR. As it seems, most scopes are not regulated under ITAR anymore but via the Department of Commerce´s Bureau of Industry and Security and their Commerce Control List (oddly enough in the same section as "nuclear materials, facilities and equipment" which indicates maybe how thoughtful this whole legislation had been put together...). Most scopes will classify as ECCN 0A504 in this list. That means they have export restrictions depending on the country you want to take it. Now, as I understand it (and I am by no means an expert or person with education in legal matters), if you look into another list, the "Commerce Country Chart", and you do not see an "x" in the respective "Reason for Control" columns, you should be able to buy the scope in the US and take it to your destination with you without any other formal documentation other than the part number, description of the item, value, the eccn number (0A504, but you have to verify this with the manufacturer) and an HTS number. Then it should be legally possible to take this, say in your private luggage and bring to your home country.

Can anyone confirm if this is right?
