Suppressors Is this normal?

I grabbed my can (Rugged Surge) out of the safe today and when I did, I noticed it looked green on the inside. I don't ever remember seeing the inside this color. Normally it's black, or carbon build up, but nothing of what I assume to be copper.

Is this normal? I cleaned my can in an ultrasonic cleaner using Simple Green and water about 240 rounds prior to seeing this. At that time, everything inside the can was black.

Any ideas?

Because several ounces of carbon have to come from somewhere, and it's not like they don't take up any space.

Why clean a can? Because some powders have more buildup than others. Particularly H1000. Thunderbeast recommends to keep track of the weight and clean after so much buildup.

I’m betting that flame cutting is aerosolizing copper from the tail of the bullets, depositing those molecules inside you can. They then turn green when oxidized.

If you read the post, it states I've shot 240 rounds since cleaning the can.

Of course I'm shooting copper jacketed bullets. Once again, I said I've never noticed the copper buildup in the can and simply asked if it was normal.

Is your objective to start a pissing match or actually offer insight? Because I'm thinking it's the former.

It's definitely copper and it's coming from the trace copper coming of the tail of the bullet due to the heat and pressure of the burning powder. If you shoot a brake very much the same thing usually happens to them.

Not sure why all the crazy attitudes in the post.

Don’t worry about it, ignore the attitudes and look for the info people actually provide. I never cleaned mine until one night someone noticed glowing chunks coming from one of mine. I put them in the sonic cleaner with Hornady gun parts cleanser. I’ve never weighed them.

A bullet is crushed by several thousandths as it runs thru a barrel, scraping the sides and then spins freely at over 100k RPMs. Of course you will see copper deposits

I really like it, however, it isn’t my first can so I don’t have much to compare it to. It is a fucking tank, though. Way heavier than a TBAC. I mostly run it as a 7.5” because I’m running a 26” barrel on my bolt guns. I run it as a 9” on my ARs. There isn’t much noticeable difference between the two.

I think I am going to give there Razor model a try. Seeing you like the surge in the smaller profile I think it will do everything I need it to.

Agreed it will. I just love not having to wear hearing protection. I do get about 9/10ths of a mill POI change when shooting with vs without, but it’s consistent so it doesn’t bother me.

This. Most of my brakes, especially the ones inside cans are all various shades of green lol
