Well I have had some issues feeding from seekins mags. The mags are the new version replaced by seekins which are better than the old ones. The first round in the mag feeds fine. The second round gets the rear of the round pushed down slightly when I move my bolt back to feed another round. It is causing it to not catch the second round. I have attached some pictures and seeing if anyone has some advice on what should be done to correct the issue.

Here is the first round. As you can see it contacts the bolt correctly.

Here is the mag with the first round sitting correctly in the mag.

Here is the second round in the mag not contacting the bolt causing the bolt to slide right over the round.

Here is the second round in the mag out of the gun.

If I push the round towards the front of it, it resets in the mag to the correct setting.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: Issues feeding from Seekins Mags

One thing to try is to bend the feed lips in a little more on the front. This will keep it pushed down on the forward end of the case and may solve the problem. I have done that to a couple and it fixed it.

Re: Issues feeding from Seekins Mags

Well I tried bending to front of the tabs down little by little and it did not resolve the problem. Just made it where the round would nose dive into the edge of the feed ramp.

Photos are tough to gauge but ill try:

It appears as though your case overlap (as it pertains to the bolt) is a bit anemic. If the magazine will insert deeper without dragging feedlips on the bolt body you might consider a revision of the floor metal seating depth.

Not trying to be alarming. Just saying from the 1st pic it looks a pinch weak and this sort of thing aggravates the problem your having.

Good luck.

Re: Issues feeding from Seekins Mags

Chad,

The mags have a little up and down play in them when they are locked in on the bottom metal, so I have tried pushing the mag up (maybe a 1/8 of an in) and it does not fix the problem. After I take the first shot I have to eject the first round and tap with my fingure the next round to make it reseat properly in the mag to feed. Glenn has offered to take care of it, so it is up to me to get that rolling. Thanks for everyones help, and Merry Christmas.

Re: Issues feeding from Seekins Mags

Make sure the follower is not dragging inside the mag and the mag is lightly lubed inside (follower and rounds move smoothly).
If your top round sit at the correct feed angle single loaded and added rounds do not work I would look closely at the mag/follower.

I had a similar issue with my CDI metal and AI mags and it required a small tweak / bend of the mag lips BUT all my rounds fed at the same angle (just a pinch low). Your 2nd round not feeding the same is a clue.

If you load the mag by hand and strip a round does the remaining round sit at the same angle or are they tipped?

Re: Issues feeding from Seekins Mags

Update:

I this issue fixed with the mags and rifle. It ended up being a combo of things. First the bottom metal was not inleted deep enough into the stock. That fixed most of the issue. I did have to have Seekins fix one mag which they did fast and were very helpful. I just wanted to give Glen and Shiloah at Seekins a thanks you publicly for all the help on this issue.

Thanks
