Look what the carrier left for me today!!

This machine came highly reccomended by my friend Stu at RedTac Gear. After using it for the first 5 min., I figured out why, he wants me to loose all me fingers

This machine is FAST, my brain litteraly can not keep up with it.

Consew 206 RB5. So far, it is litteraly cutting my sewing time in half. It makes a very nice, tight stitch. Time to retire the tired old Singer 15-91. She was a good old girl, but this is the new sweetie, and she is built for speed!

That is the same machine the we use in our USCG AST "A" School sewing labs.

Just got them about 8 months ago.
Great machine, have yet to have any problems other than ones that were student induced.

Keep the 15-91 for light work.

I've got a Singer 31-15 for light duty and a Consew 206RB3 for heavier gear. Keep them oiled and timed and they'll outlive you.

I've got a Pfaff 1245 machine and love it, mainly do only custom Harley seats. Thought about doing a custom rifle scabbard.

The 15-91 isn't going anywhere, I have 3 of them, and could thin out the heard, but now they are a Grand River Tactical collectors item

Nick that thing is junk,send it to me and I'll ship you back my old Singer that was made in 1941...

You got a servo motor on it I guess,should be able to slow it down with a dial.My old singer is direct drive and the motor sounds like a small jet engine running and if you touch the pedal wrong it takes off like a buzz saw.

Damn,.. they are up to series 5 now,..

mine is an older 206RB no dash as the S&W fans say..red riveted on name plate etc.

I got it 20 years ago and sewed many boat canvas and car interior projects with it, used to work for Doyle down in St.Pete Fla.
They are pretty much unbreakable and I have sewn through a few snaps doing repairs without it missing a beat or skipping a stitch.. haven't used it since moving to Tenn. maybe time to warm it up again, cheaper than buying canvas gear since I have cut a few yards myself,

no threat to you serious businessmen just a serious hobbyist now,.. kayak spray skirts and covers are freghin' expensive, and I can't find one I like..

They had a thing that did bar tacks at Tactical Tailor. It was neato.

My buddy Scott at SKT has this neato machine that automatically cuts webbing to length. You have one of those?

The short answer:

If I ever try to go at this fulltime, that will be a consideration. In the mean time, I am content sending prize table goodies to the Cup/Bash, and coutless other matches adertised here. I dont take advantage of the Sponsors priledges, nor do I get them. I just am, for now.

You guessed right. I will not be able to finish this week, as I am packing the car and shooting the guns down to ASC tommarrow night.

Next week hopefully. This will certianly make things move along faster.

HEY, Nice snag.
It will do you good for long time. The heavy Consew's are a good workhorse. My most used workhorse is a Consew pretty similar model to yours ( 146RB-1A ) but it is a Heavy combo stitch, strait/zigzag/reverse/walk foot . Mine has a limited selection for pressor foot but ( I think ) your model has a couple different to choose .
You will be happy with that choice and it worth the price. I am pretty fond of the bobbin shuttle set-up on the consew's too . The neadle, It really picks-up the thread and hold nice tension with the way it is layed-out.
If you are doing a lot of smaller intricate stitching and not a lot of 'Haul Ass' strait runs. just change-out the drive pulley to take some RPM off. It will give it a little more torque punch also and be more manageable .

The servo motor has a selector for speed, just bumped her up to medium tonight to finish the shell for that mat. I still have not even tried running it on high yet, I can not imagine that I will ever be able to run the material straight at 40mph.

I havnt even looked into different feet for it yet.

The only issue that I have with it, is I am waiting for some thread to get here, I think my thread is right twist, and its not made for high speed sewing, its tending to bunch and fray when going in reverse, and I think I read in the manual that this requires left twist threads.

Once that is squared away, I will be golden.

NICE, Speed selection is sweet .
As long as it's quality Bonded, it should be GTG for as fast as your going to sew. Your most likely just going to use bonded #69 for the majority of what you are doing anyway. If you don't see any actual smoke coming off your needle when you come to a stop . Then your not going fast . POP that Selector Switch on High and do a long run threw a few layers of Cordura & I bet you will see smoke from the 'Needle Heat'.
It's real hard to get any machine I ever sewn with to ever sew a long run of stitch as nice in reverse than forward stitch . Reverse is pretty sweet if you are in a tight spot but mainly is for quick back-stitch to lock-off a stitch . Your Bobbin Shuttle & Hook pick-up on the timing is turning the same direction running forward or reverse stitch but getting constant thread tension and a smooth stitch for the needle when it is on the bottom-out of the stroke when the bobbin-hook coming threw for thread pick-up running in reverse is tough .
It won't take long for you to get your new machine tuned and set-up the way you want it to run. Biggest thing is make sure to get it tweaked on the (proper tension routing)& (proper thread tension) from your tree and threw the machine to the needle & proper timing set . Your machine is brand new too. So it is still breaking-in and will smooth-out and 'really hum' when you get some hours on it .

MAN !, Your getting the sickness & soon you will have a Dozen machines all set-up for every purpose . Better get, 'More Space' .

Not trying to hijack the thread. Nothing wrong with industrial sewing machines. This is my newest one I just bought. My other is a Pfaff.

Dang things cost more than guns.

Liked the Consew's also. Used them in the Navy. Great machines. They are fast.

I just got it last week. Really starting to like it. Shoulders and hands don't ache so bad trying to stuff 54" of material through a 12 in hole. Took a couple days to get used to it. Takes off like a bat outta hell but steadies out. Different size pulley on the clutch.

Putting a new clutch motor on the Pfaff. It is way faster than the Nakajima. My Pfaff was made in 1964 & I gave $180 for it 6 years ago. So, having to spend $200 on a new clutch motor isn't so bad. Gave alot more for this one.

When you do break down and get a long arm you'll kick yourself in the ass for not getting one sooner.
