SAFETY
NRA Safety Rules:
1. ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
This is the primary rule of gun safety. A safe direction means that the gun is pointed so that even if it were to go off it would not cause injury or damage. The key to this rule is to control where the muzzle or front end of the barrel is pointed at all times. Common sense dictates the safest direction, depending on different circumstances.

2. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
When holding a gun, rest your finger on the trigger guard or along the side of the gun. Until you are actually ready to fire, do not touch the trigger.

3. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use.
Whenever you pick up a gun, immediately engage the safety device if possible, and, if the gun has a magazine, remove it before opening the action and looking into the chamber(s) which should be clear of ammunition. If you do not know how to open the action or inspect the chamber(s), leave the gun alone and get help from someone who does.

All rifle muzzles will be pointed up or down when transported, and pointed downrange when at a firing position, or may be pointed in a different direction required by a Range Officer (at staging areas). All rifles will be carried unloaded with either: a colored safety flag, or the bolt removed. All weapons will be loaded on Range Officer command. All weapons will be unloaded on Range Officer command. All weapon handling will be done at Range Officer command.
Rifles will be loaded, pointing down range, and the bolt will be closed when the competitor locates the target and points the rifle at the target.

Match full at this time pending all funds are sent in.

To all that have sent e-mails and PM's I will send out a e-mail tonight with directions to follow.

I will keep the match sign in shut down for the month of Dec. I will not take any more names until after I get as many fee's I can by 31 Dec turned in, and I start back up with opening the slots that have not paid by 31 Dec 09.

If you want to come let me know after the new year. This gives the 20 people from now until the 31st to get there fee's in the mail.

After that, the non-fee sent in slots come open again for who ever wants them.

Thanks

Tell your buddy to re-schedule. You got important things to do that weekend. Or bring them out to show off for them a little.

Seriously though, if plans change and you are able to make it over here, we will make room for you as defending champion...

True,

But I have no idea how to add that to a picture. If I painted it now, I would screw up my laptop screen

If any of you Photoshop guys see this, add some camo paint and send me a e-mail please

Re: J.S.T Match in Fremont NC 23 Jan 10

I like the new one much better, John. Its clean, and looks more professional. Don't jack it up by adding camo or anything else. If you screw around with the background your gonna take away from the detail in the rifles. Sometimes simplicity is the best form of greatness.... Just my $0.02

Re: J.S.T Match in Fremont NC 23 Jan 10

If anyone going to this has (or has access to) a Manners GAT stock, I'd really appreciate it if you brought it along so I could take a look.

Re: J.S.T Match in Fremont NC 23 Jan 10

Yeah well, the little nugget will be nearly 16 months old by then and his brother will have just turned 4. Time for daddy to get to leave the house on a weekend for some fun (not that I should complain since I only missed the last of John's comp because I was off in AR hunting all week)

I'll probably have recently received my new Surgeon Round Action based 308 from Jered by then. If not, then most likely the M2008 based 308 Ryan Field made for me. I probably won't be using ammo optimized for the rifle by then, but only out to 500yds or so I really can't see it mattering. John is real good at equalizing any advantages due to equipment

Besides, it's not like I've got visions of winning.

Just found out today that there's a good chance the ol' vasectomy didn't take (thru sample testing, thank god). The only thing worse than getting a vas is finding out you're gonna have to do it again. Because now I know EXACTLY what to expect going in. With that in mind, she BETTER not give me any grief for a while (and I made it clear that this time I want the GOOD anti-anxiety meds.)

Re: J.S.T Match in Fremont NC 23 Jan 10

deadly,
its gonna be me, my son and my cousin "just plinking" from here and my wife might go to take pics, what kinda targets do i need to train on to be prepared or any other tips?

Re: J.S.T Match in Fremont NC 23 Jan 10

pacomdiver,

In addition to what Ratbert said: At the last comp we had:

Shooting prone, sitting and off-hand, barnshots from inside the barn, simulated roof shots, unknown range targets (leave your LRF in the truck, and do bring your Mildot Master), busting balloons, ringing steel, and no shooting the poor hostage, and other fun and games.

John and Thunder Chicken are crafty course designers, and you will have fun, all the while muttering under your breath....You will be challanged; and made to think or not, your choice.

Bob

PS:

John, Just finishing up the AAR for last weeks training. Look for it later today in your inbox....
