Got a buddy at work wanting to build a AR. He is dead set against a 223 and wants a 6.5 or 6.8. I have no experience with J&T and there is very little info out there on the net about them. I read a couple places they use shaw barrels and obviously its a budget AR. Does anyone have any experience with them at all? Any help would be appreciated. The price just looks to good to be true IMO. If they were providing anything close to moa rifles I think everyone and their brother would have one of them.

Re: J & T 6.5 rifle kits

I have a Doublestar which is one in the same as JT Distributing. My Doublestar is basically a A2 with a 20" heavy match barrel. My only complaint was the trigger, horrible trigger pull. I replaced it immediately with a Timney drop in.

The rifle will shoot for the most part 1" - 1-1/4" groups all day long with hand loads. Only other rounds I have put thru it was LC. They were more like 2"-2-1/2".

In a nutshell JT is good stuff no regrets.

Re: J & T 6.5 rifle kits

Thanks. I talked to a rep today for a while. Customer service was good. There were several questions he could not answer right away and within a hour I had a email with all the requested info. I recommended he get a 223 but he is set on the Grendel. For the cost I will give his a test run when he gets it and if it's a good shooter I may look into one. I have been pricing 223s with a 1-8 or 1-7 twist to shoot the Hornady 75s. But this could be another alternative. I was also impressed with their delivery time of about 2 weeks.
