well guys whats up? i am looking into doing a remington 700 type rifle. i want the 26" barrel. i want to be able to go out and touch about 1000yds on a consistent basis. i want some advice on the barrel i should get along with bolt and all. i want to get the JAE stock for it. i want a long action. im not to worried about the money right now i just want ideas. i know the stock is going to run about 800. i was leaning towards a schmidt and bender scope. being in the marines i am partial to this rifle. i would also do a m1a based rifle as well. i really want the JAE stock. thanks for any help that i can get guys.

i too was looking at the jae stock, but after pricing out all the options i wanted and minus the 30% off, it was going to be closer to $1k. you could probably get a mcmillan with all the bells and whistles for less. that and the fact that it won't be ready till later this year made me look for alternatives. so i went with the mcree stock. you can use aics mags and it was readily available. plus scott is a great guy to deal with. good luck with the build.

Re: JAE stock on Rem 700

I have been in contact with JAE for the past year and a half. I was among the first group of people with the JAE-100 G2 stock for the M1A. I have since been in constant contact with JAE, and they've told me not to expect the 700RSA stock until late summer/fall, and that's for the first run if they can get to it. They are still working on finishing some tooling and production equipment. They're also so backed-up with JAE-100 orders that they may not get the 700RSA in production until fall or even winter, if at all this year. They have a long back-order list, so the wait is supposed to be 3 months from the time they start production until they can get to your order. And that's just for the 700RSA. The 700RLA is probably not even going to be made until 2011, if I remember correctly.

As for the magazines, my understanding was that JAE was supposed to be using standard AICS mags. Is AI going to be making proprietary magazines for JAE? I may have missed that...

Re: JAE stock on Rem 700

I wanted a JAE700 when I started this game a few years ago....They said the same thing then as they are now. I wouldnt count on it. Look into the McRees Precision chassis. Pretty reasonable for the amount of features. As for the Bbl'd action, Just get a factory 700 sps-v and throw away the stock and bottom metal.
