First of all, let me start off by saying I am not affliliated with JagerPro in any way other than I was a client this past weekend. I am sure some of you have seen the videos posted on U-tube. It is every bit as fun as the videos make it out to be.
We started off meeting with our guide, Chris, Friday at 5:00 pm. First was getting to know our weapons, a Browning Bar .308 with thermal vision scope. This was our first treat. Truly amazing equipment. Then a quick dinner and off to the peanut fields for an awesome night.
We engaged our first hogs 15 minutes after dark. There were 16 and we were only able to take two, both by our guide Chris. I contribute this to not being fully familiar with the equipment.
We engaged a single boar at midnight. All three of us fired simultaneously with three hits, one to the head and two to the shoulder area. Three pigs down by midnight. Unfortunately, no more action the rest of the night.
After a little sleep the next day, we had a good meal, and headed out for night #2. We engaged on a big boar right a dark, but he got away (oops, hunting partner missed). We moved to another field and engaged another. This time he bit the dust. This was our biggest with estimated weight of 260 lbs. Our guide knew there would be more come out later so we check some other fields. We returned to this field at 2:30 and decided to wait them out.
About 4:00 am ten pigs appeared, our stalk began. After walking about 800 yards we were in position. Our goal was to take the biggest pigs and then to the piglets. After a firestorm. There were four pigs on the ground. Three big ones and one piglet.
All in all it was a great trip. They told us the hunting has been slow but we were not disappointed. JagerPro was 100% professional in every aspect of the hunt from the lodge we stayed in to the hunt itself. Safety was first and foremost, but there was plenty of fun to be had.
I hope ya'll enjoyed my story and I highly recommend this hunt to anyone looking to shoot some hogs. If you are interested google JagerPro. Rod (owner), Chris and Lance (guides) will take great care of you.
