Jim Borden 260 test results - 5shot group pic

Day 2

Today's results, New Nosler brass, OUT the box. 140 Amax. Weighed IMR4350, and Fed BR primer.

First group is 5 shots, the 4th I seemed to have pulled. 4 of 5 under 1/2".

2nd group was my remaining 4 rounds, all 4 in one hole, best I can measure is .194 C-t-C.

Using VX3 again, on 10x, at 100 yds.

You need two more 5 shot groups or a 10 shot group. Too bad that target proves nothing...

Josh, I have not read the policy, but was under the impression nothing but 5 shot groups were 'worthy' here, so I posted one I shot. The gun has proven itself to ME and that's all that matters. I am confident it will shoot like this Day in and Day out as I have owned many accurate rifles, and this 260 is a Hammer.

To say my target proves nothing, I disagree, as it tells me this gun shoots lights out, w/o ANY doubts whatsoever!

Josh: let me guess: you work in Human Relations, right? I can tell by your empathetic written communication skills; NOT. How about a professional reminder to the shooter while commending him on his newly acquired rifle? Wouldn't you want to be treated the same way?

I respect the group shot policy because the owner of the site mandates it. That said, nobody needs a safety patrol hall moniter or a tattle tale. Let the man enjoy his rifle and if you just can't fight the urge to regulate traffic try doing it without a wisecrack or better yet send him a nice PM.....

Probably because in another thread the thread starter was informed by the mods of the group policy set by LL on this board. </div></div>Is it going to be enforced on everyone who get a rifle and posts one target then? This is the first time I have seen someone bring up this rule in a while.

At times, I really wonder if people even shoot further then 100 yards, or even shoot at all.

OK that just means w 40K members the Mods can't possibly catch everything. So what it's the rules! I can understand a new member making ignorant mistake, but after someones been told and does it again.

Blatant disrespect for the rules. I'm sure it's a nice rifle and am glad it satisfies you. And you wouldn't get any crap and a lot of compliments if you would just follow the rules.

Why is that so hard?

Guys, sorry to create friction here, not my intent, believe me, just showing what put a smile on my face, and how the 260 can run w/the best of 'em.

I will try to be sure NOT to post any future 'groups' so not to create strife on this forum.

It was not blatent disrespect, my take was I needed a 5 shot group, so today I shot a 5 shot group JUST for you guys here to see how it did, and low and behold failed to read the policy, and still have not, for times sake.

Sorry some feel 'offended' my posts does not meet a 'criteria' but I don's shoot competition, or am I selling this rifle.

My photobucket is locked until the reset on the 26th, a post on this rifle w/pic is under 'Custom 260' so check back in a few days on that post.

Yeah, I pulled that 4th on the 5 shot group, no doubt, my next group of my last 4 bullets I had confirmed that, shooting .5-.6 is one thing, but as predicted this gun is no doubt a .2-.4 gun when the shooter does their part, and I am NOT good enough to do it ever time, that was about as good as I likely will hold/shoot this 260, have slightly bested on rare occasion .2moa but that was with 6BRs that recoil a bit less, and less blast as well.

Obviously I stepped on toes, so I won't post groups that I shoot - on this forum, time better spent elsewhere than learning the rule book.

All I can say is when you put 4 shots in one hole, it would have to be alot of luck at 100 yds if your gun was not one heck of a shooter as this one is, and I have ZERO DOUBT it will repeat this again and again with same loads/conditions if I do my part. I learned a bit on shooting technique and replicated it better on my last group as any contact w/cheek weld and shoulder was bumping the gun w/heartbeat from .1 - .3 as seen thru scope.

Gun is 8.0 lbs w/o scope so not ultra heavy, therefore requiring more concentration than if say a 10-12lb gun.

Under .2 w/NEW unfired brass impressed me, as I had expected this rifle to perform, and then some. I am CONVINCED it is a Hammer.

My KMW 260 is built of a Borden Alpine. Jim's actions are works of art, + he is a great man to deal with.

Work your way up to 47.0gn of H4831SC (compressed load). With nosler you may be right at the node with 46.5.

We all run about 2825 to 2850 with 139gn Scenars.

When the tube was fresh it was shooting in the .2s out of the gate with this load. Shot well until about 2750 rounds.

Great Vu, bought some H awhile back knowing it will only give better speeds and perhaps accuracy so I was burning up some old long cut IMR.

Good start with your new rifle, 6.5BR. Borden does great work. Below is a target that I shot in 2001 with my newly built Borden Stolle Panda 6PPC.

Jim suggested that I shoot the rifle with a bit of thumb pressure (hold) in the tang area rather than my usual Free Recoil method. I experimented but still shot better FR. The fly was just a bonus at the end of the test.

Gotta love that 'FLY er' LOL. I can honestly say this rifle is the only rifle outside of BR cartridges that shoots so well it challenges my abilities. I am about to start shooting 200 yds and further as well as steel.

The 100 yd was good for sight in and testing the guns potential accuracy w/o any wind issues. I seldom ever shoot 100 as my guns are most always shot using 200 as my baseline distance at the range, and for POA/POI.

I agree 100% , and it does make you look like a a** saying "that group proves nothing" I look at it and say damn that rifle has potential.

Well, that's funny. That group does prove nothing other than the fact that the rifle MAY have potential. I, too, have shot groups like that. The issue was you got called on it by a moderator not two days ago and had a moderator post the link to the group policy. Yet you post again with something that goes against the group policy a couple days later.

I don't doubt that the rifle shoots. That's all fine and dandy. 6.5, the 260 can clearly run with the best of them and has been proven time and again. If you don't like the group policy, take your garbage elsewhere...especially after you have been informed.
