Just bought a new ruger 10/22 for $179

Grey stock heavy barrel with picatinny rail. no iron sights.

Was this a good buy?

I’m going to throw a vortex viper 6-24 mil dot on it.

Was thinking about a kidd drop in trigger job.

Anything else I should upgrade?

Yes, it's a good buy, particularly if you don't spend anything to upgrade it.

no. By the time you "upgrade" it to shoot , you will realize you should have went another way.
