Blacksmith and I left the comfort of our Virginia hills and flew to Texas, turned left and drove to the Badlands Tactical Training Facility (2+ hrs north of Dallas) to take their BASIC PRECISION (SNIPER) RIFLE COURSE. This was a first class experience. The class was mostly LEOs with a mix of experienced civilians and one student who bought his rifle the day before the class. That said, everyone qualified out to 600 yards (Timed fire, 5 hits on each target 100-600 yds). The ratio of students to instructors was 4 to 1.

First day was classroom and fried chicken at the senior center ($5.00). Second day was a half in class and catfish at the senior center then out to the range. Blacksmith and I wanted to shoot in the wind and boy was there wind. It didn't get below about 20mph the whole time. Third and forth days were on the range, both known and then unknown distances.

The dorm is bunkhouse style with bathrooms and a kitchen. Simple but adequate.

The instructors were there everynight until ALL questions had been answered and rifles fitted. My beauty now has a foam cheek rest taped on and added padding on the butt but it fits great.

I'm not going to go on about how good the instructors are. Do a web search and figure it out. These guys have been there and done that.

The website is basic, the town is very small, the training is worth every penny. Check it out.

A DHS subdued shoulder patch is now on the wall with others from as far away as Australia and New Zealand.

Thanks Bobby for a great experience.
