Re: Just how good are Vortex Scopes?
The Razor is the Vortex Optics their premier line, hence the price. As I understand it;
1.) Razor
2.) Viper PST
3.) Viper
4.) Diamondback
5.) Crossfire
You can view more information on their products by viewing their website - Vortex Optics
X2 Their all good scopes, it really comes down to what you want out of a scope and then the saying that you get what you pay for within reason.

My opinion of the Razor HD 5-20x50 MRAD EBR-3
I will say I have not had the chance to look thru some of the others but I can state briefly my opinion of the Razor HD 5-20x50 with the EBR-3
For the most part I have been using 10x thru the high end of the magnification range, even when setting up on extended distance targets I have not noticed any issues as far as the cross hairs being to thick, may it be my eyes or not but I think that the balance of magnification in relation to thickness is very desirable. Be it a bright day or in low light situations or heavy overcast it seems easy to get on target and send it off.
The turrets are true and crisp as far as dialing up or down with a good report while running the scope and trusting the change versus glancing up to see when the moment doesn’t allow on short corrections, as far as the turrets having multiple rotations for elevation versus all the mils in the same run, I prefer the mils not being so tight making it user friendly for fast yet precise adjustments, some folks may differ and here again it comes down to user preference. The Razor does allow a person to be able to get some distance with 125 moa or 36 mils of elevation to work with depending on your base and zero.
The general appearance may look heavy and large but it’s made to handle almost anything that one would put it against and then some. All of the turrets are easy to reach and adjust without pissing around - with or without wearing gloves and the quality of the glass for the most part is right up there with some of the other high end scopes, in low light conditions the Razor still pulls a clear view and in extreme lowlight conditions you can always dial down a little which is common with any magnification, it is also setup with a multitude of illuminated variations the can be picked from and then turned off by rotating back one click from what works for the given job, the clicks on the light switch are tight enough that accidentally turning on the illumination is not a concern, the typical battery needed could use a better shelf life but that’s typical of batteries. Vortex does have a slick back up battery holder that mounts onto the rail of your gun if needed.
The scope tracks very well, is built to be used and abused, handles the 338 LM well, also the clarity is very effective at getting the job done with the given weather and light conditions.
My opinion, a well built piece. All in all I would say Vortex did very well with this, having a scope that has the mechanics to serve the purpose and serve it well and at a fair price.
Yes, I like what I use it works for me, I’ve been running mine since March of 2010
Just my opinion on my Razor set up with the MRAD EBR-3
