I have to tell someone! LOL. No one was there to witness it! My shooting buddies had already left for the day.
To put this in perspective, I've been shooting for decades. I'm a former IDPA state champ. I've tried a lost of crazy shots in my life. Cutting string at 100 yds, rapid fire, a lifetime of "Hey I bet you can't...." But this shot surprised me!
I've posted before about how I always plink around ~220yds with my RPR shooting golf balls. We all know that wind and ammo variations make this pretty difficult and fun. I don't use expensive ammo because wind will drive you crazy and this is for fun. Today I was doing just this. I hit one golf ball and it rolled behind another. With only half of it showing, from the 11 o'clock position. I thought to myself 'Ooh look a hostage target!'. I figured there was no way in hell I was going to hit half a golf ball and miss the one in front. But I gave it a go. Totally waited for the wind to die down, squeezed, and hit below both by about 2 inches low from my POA. Ok, not bad but trying on the second shot, I really held left more so if I missed I wouldn't hit the front one. squeezed again... BAM! Hooo Leee Sheeeet I freaking got it! The front one never moved!!!
Pic 1 is thru scope. See tiny white speck right of center? Thats what a golf ball looks like. We place them all over the back berm. This is why its ~220yds, because they fly and roll about and can be anywhere from 215-225 yards on the berm.
pic 2 is for scale. The plates on the close left are at 50 yds., The berm is around 220. There are 2 tall guys at the 200yd targets in the back right. yeah those 2 little white squares in the back, there are guys standing in front of them. Those are those BIG paper targets. (This pic was taken while range was cold.)
My Ruger RPR bedded with aluminum tape. Stock barrel and trigger. Athlon Optics Talos 6x24x50. Bipod and monopod. CCI Mini Mag copper plated (my plinking ammo.)
I fully plan to try to repeat this now!! Its my new challenge. Hostage golf!
