Are you referring to tarryall resevoir? I’m also a Florida transplant trying to find somewhere to shoot.Down in the right corner of Jefferson where the two rivers are, like directly off 285 you can get pretty far.

There is turn off for the reservoir, it's pretty good to shoot there just past the Continental Divide, the elevation is like 10k standing so DA is as high as 15,000ft in the summer.
He can drop down from Evergreen pretty easy by Conifer, and he is not far from Bailey and the DOW ranges down there.
In the early 90’s I played around in that area a lot.Down in the right corner of Jefferson where the two rivers are, like directly off 285 you can get pretty far.

That's a good use for Kansas - long ass shooting range4 hour drive but Rebel Ridge Outfitters is where we shoot ELR. Drive to Pueblo and go east til you hit Kansas.
Finding spots requires some leg work and home study. Thanks for all the replies. Looks like its gonna be tough to find.
Where at in southern colorado my range is pretty similar like that besides on fridays is long range days and we have the right to kick people out that day to shoot longer.I'm lucky. I have a range within 20 minutes of my house (Southern Colorado) that goes out to almost 1900 yards. The only problem is I have to get there before anyone else because in order to shoot anything beyond 1k, you have to use alternate firing positions and shoot over the main firing line, so if someone wants to shoot pistols or 100 yards and they get there before you, you're kinda shit outta luck and stuck with a max of 927 until they leave.

Do they have a set closing time, or is it sundown?Yes sir royal gorge rifle range. Yeah friday is the long range days.
Where is that?Since we're reviving a necro thread, CRC now has a 1000 + range with plans to get out to 2000 yards at some point.
They have night time shooting but never done it I think you have to call to let them know. It's becoming a better range and starting to hold matches nothing huge or fancyDo they have a set closing time, or is it sundown?
Where is that?

Yea they use to have a gong out to right past 1000. Don't recall actual distance. Who knows maybe a current member from crc will chime in. I knw long distance is one day, and short is on the next day something like that. Been yrs since I was a member thereHmm. I'm really thinking of getting a membership at CRC since Cheyenne Mountain Shooting Complex has been blocked by the base from shooting past 300yds for the past 17 or 18 weeks. Plus, even when they werent blocked, it seemed like their 1200yd range was closed more weekends than it was open...
I’m pretty disappointed with CRC. I signed up with them 1.5 years ago I think, and they were pushing their phase 2 plans for steel out to 1 mile. “It’s just around the corner” finalizing the location and permits. Etc. it just opened up a few months ago with steel to ~1100. And the majority don’t have berms. I also don’t see any way they to get to 1500, much less 1760 in the location they put it.Since we're reviving a necro thread, CRC now has a 1000 + range with plans to get out to 2000 yards at some point.
Yeah, I looked through their site a few days ago when searching for a new ELR place, and man, their range looks SWEET. I wish it was closer to me.Cameo Shooting Complex is also well worth a weekend trip to Grand Junction. If you want to shoot long range steel check the calendar. If you call and schedule at least 48 hours ahead you can do their range that has steel every 100 yards out to 2000 I think. Epic place to shoot.
Is the LDPR open to members any day there is not a match on that range? The Long Distance Precision Range at Colorado Rifle Club is now seperate from the High-Power range. The LDPR is open and has been for over a year. There are 1,2 and 3 moa targets on hangers every 150 yards from 400-1150 for now. 4 out of the 6 target arrays currently have berms and have the whole time, the other two get berms next month. We will also be lengthening the firing line and installing berms for the ELR targets we're working on. Initial "ELR" targets will probably go to 1500 yards or so, we'll have to cut down some tree's to get to a mile but that's the plan. Going past a mile will not be too likely with the property boundaries, so this is going to be "mid-range ELR" not King of Two Mile type stuff. Still one of the longest ranges in CO.
This is an all volunteer club that has extremely affordable membership. There's a ton of earth work the club contracts each year but it's done all at the same time each year to save club funds. About 10-15 retired dudes do 90% of the planning and work at the club fyi.
I have found working with the BOD on this new range that most the membership wants to go shoot but very few want to actually go do maintanance and work or contribute time and sweat equity. I get it because for most of my time as a member there that's how I was, I am busy with work, family and shooting competitions.
In the past there has been a very "fudd" vibe, with the BOD even trying to eliminate shooting long range steel at one point years ago. The fudds are not completely gone but are slowly fading out and with these ELR targets this will be one of the best places to shoot long range in the state. There is also the Sillhouette range next to the 22 range that has steel to 700ish yards and a covered firing line.
Yes, just check the Event Calendar to make sure before you make the drive. It is occassionally closed for maintanence and once a month on Sunday morning for the shotgun match that borders the LDPR but that should all be on the schedule. Is the LDPR open to members any day there is not a match on that range?
Cheers! I'll sign up in July since I cant make the next two orientations. See you there.Yes, just check the Event Calendar to make sure before you make the drive. You will need to sign up for a membership and do the Orientation on a weekend but after that you're welcome to come shoot pretty much anytime! Mirage can get pretty wicked out on the Eastern planes, just know your dope will get weird sometimes out there.
