   does anyone know how many different mounts were attached to the barrel of issue zf41 rifles. I see one with a flat outside and one with a groove. are they both correct?

Someone here may know their way around the nuances with a K98, but it’s unlikely they’re anywhere near the knowledge base on the actual k98 forums. They literally write books on the rifle.

Yes, they're both correct. Earlier rifles utilized the "flat roller" mount and later production rifles used the "beveled roller" mount with the groove and more rounded edges. This was merely a design improvement over the original flat mount; the Wehrmacht's assorted scope mounts went through multiple design variations/improvements over the course of the war.
