Suppressors KAC 7.62 QDC CRS-PRG Feedback

I'm looking to make my first step into the suppressor world and looking to suppress my AR-15, currently I have a 16" barrel 5.56mm but I am also looking to build a 24" 6ARC upper and 9" 300blk upper. My current rifle as well as planned uppers have/will have adjustable gas blocks. I know some will argue that I should look into dedicated cans for each platform, and while I may go that way in the future, to start with I'd like to get a can that could work well across all 3 calibers.

I've been doing my research and gotten fixated on the KAC 7.62 QDC CRS-PRG can. I like what I've read about it's durability, exceptional flash suppression, flow through design, and overall solid sound suppression abilities. I don't like how heavy it is, but given its performance in these other areas I am thinking I might be able to put up with it. KAC cans are pricey but if the performance justifies it I'm willing to pay the price. Given my use case, does this sound like a reasonable place to start?

Have one being shipped to my FFL… it’s the 5.56 version. I’ll happily give you an update after I get it. It’s going on my SR15 so I figured I’d buy KAC.

The KAC QDC cans are pretty solid, at the moment it's extremely difficult to find any of the 5/8x24 muzzle devices though. Just food for thought. They also usually don't come with one, which is fairly annoying considering the price.

The 7.62 QDC PRG is my first and only can. The prices on them have come down recently, as a result of the ease of production with 3D printing. I got it for the same reasons you listed (multi caliiber use and built like a tank) and am very happy with it.

I have used it mostly on a KAC APC, but also on a Sons SPR barrel with 5/8 threads. I have never had an issue with carbon lock, the sound suppression has been good for both 5.56 and 7.62. 5/8 flash hiders occasionally pop up for MSRP, supposedly they're releasing new 5/8 MDs sometime this year.

I have about a half-dozen 556 and 30 caliber Surefire and B&T cans, as well as a Putnik and some other crap, the KAC alphabet soup cans are the best all around - bar none.

The only concrete "cons" against it is the weight (if that matters to you) and the attachment ecosystem. The Quick Detach Collar (QDC) is probably second best behind the Surefire, but it's super hard to get any of them, let alone in 5/8. They're way overpriced for what they are too, like $380 for a 2-port brake and nearly $500 for a QDC/MAMS.

Now that KAC is doing a new line, the dealer pricing is flattened to $1050. For that price, you won't beat it for a blend of flow through design, flash reduction, heat resistance, decibel reduction, and POI shift. That would've been another "con" because these things were closer to $2000 at one point.

I use it exclusively on my M110A3 but I'm converting my SR25 E2/PR back to use the KAC muzzle device since I also snagged a CQB to go with the CRS. I know all things are not equal, but being a flow through and with 6.5CM it's still quieter at the ear versus 308 with a Surefire 300SPS and SOCOM762-RC2.

Apparently the next gen will have relatively more decibel reduction with better flowthrough and lighter weight which is crazy to me, but I don't think *THAT* is worth $1800-2000.
