Had a chance to shoot the hell out of this rifle this weekend.
It's a great shooter and the E3 bolt is a really great design.
I shot 300 rounds of XM855 and it didn't have one issue. Once I got used to the ambi bolt release I could release it with my trigger finger pretty damn fast.
It's not the most accurate gun, but I wasn't shooting the most accurate ammo. I was able to shoot about a 5" group with surplus ammo. (XM855 & 55gr ball all surplus). I did manage to shoot 50 77gr from SW ammo and it did much better with 3-3.5" groups. It's accurate enough for a 'battle rifle'. I was using a Leupold 1.5-5 scope which I reviewed in the optics section. (Great scope by the way)
Recoil is very light and follow up shots are easily done. My crosshairs barely even moved off target.
I shot 150 rounds suppressed and it functioned perfectly.
The only dislike I have about this rifle is the non standard parts (bolt, extractor, springs). I could see how it would be easy for someone to drop the mag when trying to work the ambi bolt release. Easy fix is just don't use the ambi release if you have trouble dropping the magazine.
I think it's a better design, but it sux if you need a new bolt. I emailed KAC about ordering all non standard parts. I have yet to hear back from them. I assume they sell spare bolts, ect for the SR15.
I have put 3000 rounds total through this gun, mostly surplus, and I can't recall one issue I've had with the gun. It's built like a tank and has great features. If you can get over the non standard parts I think it's a great gun.
