I have been using Sterlok for my Vudoo and just got a WeatherMeter to go with it but was thinking about returning it and getting a Kestrel 2700. Any pros or cons to switching to the 2700?

Also anyone know where to get the best deal on 2700?

I run a kestrel 5700 elite, and strelok pro. I only use the 5700 as BT feeding weather conditions of the day, and backup if needed. ALL my rifle data is on it, and I often cross check and verify, but strelok is my go-to.

Use what works for you, and what's comfortable. The weathermeter (flowmeter ?) Works, otherwise perhaps find someone at a local range / match and ask to borrow / have a play with a kestrel, and see if it's for you.

My local club always has a bunch of kestrels with open BT to connect to and get weather from. I know a few who won't buy a kestrel for this reason !

Stick with Strelok Pro and if needed get a Krestrel Drop3 or Weatherflow if you need an anemometer. IMHO if you want to go Kestrel, anything less than a 5700 Elite for 22lr is pointless as it's the only one that has AB custom curves and DSF feature.

Strelok Pro is my go to and its been spot on since I started shooting precision rifles 2 years ago. I talked myself out of buying a kestrel this year several times but after dropping my phone in a mud pit inches from a deep stream last week it’s on my list to buy next. If I was only shooting at the range or competitions I wouldn’t really need a Kestrel with the ballistics but after almost killing my phone I’ve realized it’s a tool worth having so I can keep the phone in my pocket where it belongs. All in all it depends on what you are doing, if you’re just shooting at the range/comps then the app is great and I doubt you’ll like the kestrel screen better then Strelok Pro. If you plan on hunting I’d by a 5700 with ballistics built in so you don’t need to touch the phone. Just my 2 cents on that, like I said I talked myself out of buying one for over a year now until I had butter fingers and dropped my phone.

Agreed. Just can’t bring myself to spend the money on a elite. Maybe if I could find a used sportsman for cheap then upgrade it later.

I’m probably going to pick up the hornady model. That should do everything I need and then some.

Take the free Kestrel 5700 Elite Zoom class. Once you understand all the features that the Elite has you may just change your mind. Plus they give you a discount code just for attending.

Awesome, I didn’t even know they did that. Signed up for the 5th and 12th classes to see what I can learn.

The 4dof could be awesome, however I will admit that AB custom drag curves on the kestrel are super fun to play with and verify things.

Class link for those interested. It's free, and I will probably learn something !

Sorry, Kestrel closed ability for third party applications to connect to 2700 model. 5x00 models works as usual
