I have had this issue the last few times I have tried to link my iPhone 7 to my Kestrel 5700 AB Link. What happens is I turn on my Kestrel, Bluetooth is on on both phone and Kestrel, then go to my app on the phone and I try to open it and it just opens for a second or two and then closes out. I can open the app as much as I want, but all that happens is it just closes out right away. I have tried this on my home iPad as well with the same results. I have deleted and re-loaded the app but that doesn't help. I have used this same Kestrel and this same phone for the whole 2017 season without an issue. FW 1.15 is what is on the Kestrel.
Anyone else have information on this? Thanks ahead of time.

I am reading this w/o Kestrel available to me so I do not know software version off hand. However I did take the kestrel and phone and backed out onto drive way in vehicle. I found that it worked a little better but still would shut off after say 5 seconds instead of shutting off right away. I then drove down the street and parked and then I was able to link up with no issues at all. Does it have something to do with being inside the house? Wi-Fi shouldn't interfere w/ Bluetooth one would think but...what do I know.

current FW is 1.17 with 1.18 soon to be released. you might want to update.

Firmware version 1.17 was initially released but then pulled back after it was discovered that some customers had issues with gun profiles saving correctly. This sort of sounds like an issue where the Kestrel LiNK Ballistics application believes there is a firmware update available (1.17) but cannot locate the files because they are not there anymore (hence the WiFi correlation). The 1.17 file got cached in the application but uninstalling and reinstalling the application should have resolved that issue for you. As mentioned above, we should have firmware version 1.18 ready to go this week and I'm hoping this should fix your issue. After the update comes out, please let us know if you continue to have the same problem. You can email [email protected]

Welcome to the forum! Thanks for keeping us all in the loop. One thing that makes the Kestrel so great is the support.

I found that by uninstalling the app and then turning off the Wi-Fi, at least this time, the app has worked and stays open. My FW on my Kestrel Elite Link is still 1.15. I was not prompted an update for firmware. I was however prompted to allow location so the latitude can update and also .50 cal bullets were updated to library. I WAS NOT prompted to upload a firmware update to 1.18. I have uninstalled and installed the app and still nothing. What am I missing here?
On a side note, when I update the latitude, should it not update in Kestrel? I am at 46.8 and if I manually change to say 47.2 and then have the latitude update from phone...nothing happens, it stays on 47.2.

Are their solutions for this?
