I bought a Kestrel for long-range shooting. I'm trying to get into hunting, and where I live, most critters will be at distances below my 104-yard zero distance. Is the Kestrel good for calculating holdovers for short shots, or should I just go out back, shoot targets, and write down the results?
It tells me my AR15 requires virtually no adjustment for 50 and 75 yards, but at 25 it wants about 4 clicks up, which is still nearly nothing.
Also, the software suggests I zero at 100 yards. Is there any reason why 100 would be better than 104? My platform just happens to be 104 yard from my target stand.
