I know that there are a bunch of us with this particular action/stock configuration.

My question is who here has the Victor Rear Tang on their Kidd action for this stock? Did you actually see any improvements in accuracy, and consistency?

It is a $50 upgrade with a very simple install that I may just need to give a try in my rifle. I'm also looking at doing the Kidd rear tang in another build I have in a Magpul X22 stock?

I have the same configuration but have only had it together a short time, still working on finding the sweet spot for the torque settings. Hoping someone responds that can maybe provide a good torque range for optimum performance. I know not every rifle will be the same just hoping for a good proven start point.

I had a Titan stock on my first 10-22 build. I got a Kidd Supergrade barreled action. Got the titan rear anchor and bolted the Kidd SG in the Titan. It will hold 0.5 moa to 100 yds. I have not tried the Kidd without the rear anchor. IMO the Kidd action with a Titan stock and their rear anchor, is the best setup going for a 10-22. Sell the Magpul's and get Titan's. I torqued the main action at 20 in/lb. I do not have bit for my torque wrench for the small screw. It is a much smaller screw, I just snugged with allen wrench.

I needed to clean my Kidd 10/22 so I disassembled it today to do that and at the same time I installed the Victor rear tang. The instructions stated to torque the front action screw to 20 in/lbs and then torque the rear screw starting at 10 in/lbs and work up to 25lbs while shooting groups at each setting to determine which torque setting is most accurate for your rifle.

I'll get out sometime this week to shoot groups and see how everything goes. I'll post up results when I get everything done. I'll see how this goes and then get some motivation to get out the Dremel to do the Kidd rear tang in my Magpul stock next. I certainly like the options and how the Victor stock is setup for this type of install.

Thanks for the info on the torque settings. Like quickdraw mentioned I think I started around 20 and worked up to around 26 or so. I probably should have left it alone and put more rounds through it before starting to tinker with the torque values. Time to back off and start over.

Hope both of you have great luck with your rifles and shoot lots of single hole groups.

I got out today and put some rounds down range. My rifle liked 20in/lbs on the front and rear screws. I set the front action screw to 20in/lbs and started at 10 on the rear. I worked up to 25in/lbs in 5in/lbs increments. I then tried a few spots in between and ended up at 20/20 front and rear. I'll get around to running a few types of match ammo through it again just for general purposes but my rifles have always liked SK Rifle Match and that is what I was running today.

Well now a few months farther into this The rifle settled in to 20lbs front. 17 rear. After I found that I also found that the groups got tighter after I took off the Kidd muzzle brake,. It shoots even tighter through a suppressor.

I was out today with a few people checking out a few lots of ammo shooting at 50y. Now that I've got this rifle properly setup it shoots outstanding. It is also shooting the cheap stuff (CCI SV, SK Standard +) as well or better than the more expensive stuff (SK Rifle Match, Lapua CX). While I don't expect that to hold up at distance it is nice to have cheaper practice ammo.

Here's mine. Kidd guts (there are no Ruger parts on this rifle) Liberty Pinnacle 2 integrally suppressed Green Mtn. bbl., Vortex PST 1-4x in adj. USO rings (had 'em, they fit), Harris short bipod. This is a NICE rifle, no WAY you can compare it to stock 10/22! It's like a different animal. The 1 stage trigger is just great, real crisp. The tang. The one that comes with it won't work, you'll have to get the extra tang that's sold with the stock as I recall. But I love this thing, besides being nice, it's also accurate (even with a 4"bbl.) and they don't come much quieter. At least this one.

It was built with the tang, so I don't know what it would do with out it. For stock Rugers I back drill the stock and install a helicoil and a 1/4-20 set screw installed to put pressure on the back of the receiver, thus locking it in place. The tang in the back does help lock the whole thing together better, because remember, the 10/22 was designed with a barrel clamp that took care of this. When you FF it, you gotta come up with something else to lock it all down. Make sense?

And this is rapidly becoming my favorite rifle, just fun to shoot, accurate, quiet and everyone just loves it. A friend's 4yo son fired his first shots with this rifle (dad was helping of course). I think he's gonna be a natural some day.

I used my rifle in a NRL22 match today. Its is a very capable rifle that runs well in this type of a match format. The stock is ridgid and feels solid. It holds and handles the barreled action well. Today we shot off of a tank trap, several height buckets and a barrel, from the seated position and prone. Handling the rifle felt very natural.
