Finally ordered my barrel today. Any tips or tricks for the installation that you wish you would’ve known before hand?
I’ve already got some anti-seize compound and a rubber mallet handy

Many videos on youtube showing the process, I did not order the kidd but went with Green Mountain barrel on my first build and the barrel install was super easy, dint need the mallet lol, alittle hot and cold and I was ready to go, remember not to over tighten the screws. Sure you will like the Kidd barrel.

Of the three Kidd barres I have installed for friends of mine all went pretty easy. One slid together with no issues at all. The other two were too tight to just slide together so I put the barrel in my freezer for a while to let it get nice and cold, then used an electric heat gun to warm up the receiver. I know people who have used a torch or put them in the oven, but I like to be able to control the heat a little better.
I would avoid using the mallet if at all possible, if something it out of alignment it is best to back off rather than cause damage.

I’ve also read it says to remove the paint from the inside, this is not clean yet but I am not seeing much paint?

For prep, I removed all the paint off of the receiver-tenon interface surface and the barrel shoulder surface with scotchbrite. While you are at it, I’d recommend scotchbrite on the receiver’s inner grooves and bolt mating surface to remove the overspray.

I put the barrel in the freezer overnight and heated the receiver with a hair dryer.
For less mess, i put a thin layer of anti-seize on the receiver barrel receiver surface Instead of on the barrel tenon.
I had about 45 seconds to align the extractor and level the Vblock to the receiver. If it gets tight and you need to readjust, just heat up the receiver again with the hairdryer and it should twist without too much effort.

Have fun with the Kidd barrel. On my Kidd ULW barrel, it even shoots CCI SV well.

YMMV, happy shooting.

Just a little update, my barrel got delivered today of course while I was working a double.

it sat in my mailbox between the temperature of 25 and 35° for 13 hours. It was ice cold when I put hands on it so of course I had to take advantage of it. Threw a little bit of anti-seize on it and it slid right into my receiver. Easy enough, can’t wait to shoot!
