I was just told by a guy here at work that his remington 710 in 7 mag will shoot 1" groups with factory ammo at 500 yards every day. he even has a bushnell scope that came on it. this i find almost impossible to believe. he also claims his enfield in .303 brittis can shoot 1" at 300 yards with the battle sights. i know its possible, but not probable, and he didnt state whether its 3 or 5 shot groups. i am guesing 2 or 3. he also told me he shot a doe in the eye at 600 yards with that 7 mag a few months ago, offhand.

As many have stated in the past:
Any rifle will shoot sub .5" 1 shot groups.
I had a guy last week while I was looking over a Mossberg 590 tell me that in the national guard he qualified with an M4 at 700 yards and got a 5" group every time. Just smile and continue on with your day.

Not me. I'm a betting man. I wait until we are in a crowd and then bring up his claims of marksmanship. (that's the bait)
After the deer in the headlights look. he begins spouting the same claim with me helping him remember. (that's the nibble)
I then tell him that I want to see that shot and I will bet $$$$.
(that's the hook)
I then tell the guys listening that it would be a great time and I will bring some guns and ammo for them to try. (that's the audience)
I have some funny stories from that trick.

Doing range work at parents house and 5 relative "sharpshooters" pounded me for an hour about there shooting abillites. Got tired of it and sat a 2ft x 3ft box at 350 yards with a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper in the middle and told them to have at it. Most couldn't hit the box and I don't believe any hit the paper.
I don't know if I would do that again becouse things got quite for a while. I never wanted to embarres anybody - but it was nice on my ears for while anyway : )
