I have finally gotten the video review of the Whiskey-3 Chassis for the Remington 700 uploaded.

This is another excellent chassis option for Remington 700 owners. The stand out features are the ease of adjustment for the length of pull and comb height. Although it's not something I generally use, you can also adjust the angle and height of the buttpad. The grip is substantial and offers a neat thumb shelf to float your thumb. This was a feature I wasn't sure I was going to like, but it works well.

You will notice that this is "Part 1". We are waiting on the folding mechanism and some other parts. We will then run a "Part 2" covering the folding version of the chassis.

If you are not an AI fan and you don't want to make your bolt gun feel like an AR, then this chassis may be what you are looking for.

Sweet Video, thanks alot for posting it. I have a Folder on Order, cant wait till it comes in. I've had a plethora of chassis', but to date I believe this will be the most well rounded package in terms of options, cosmetic appeal, and price point.

Another excellent video and review!

I shot mine (with a .223 Tikka installed) at a local 800 yard match weekend before last...

This was shot 5 shots each at 100-800 yards (small target is 100 yards), no sighters. It's not a true F-class, they call it a modified F-class, but it's more like a known distance tactical match.

In 45 seconds, we started standing with gun, drop to ground, load, shoot 5 at each distance.

If you like SAKO TRG ergonomics, you'll like this chassis.

The recoil lug recess is pretty generous. Since only the rear surface of the lug needs to make contact, this allows for thick or factory lugs. I neglected to measure the lug recess before installing the action. I will try to get the measurement when we install the folder hardware.

Hellbender, you won an F-Open with a .223? Damn that's good shooting.

Derrick, We sized the recoil lug slot to fit the Badger lug and anything that is the same or smaller profile, and up to about .390" thick. That should cover just about everything but there's a lot of different shapes and sizes.

Folder is indeed a hardware swap, easy if you have mechanical skills, not too difficult if you don't. It's a roll pin and a couple screws.

How comfortable would you say the cheekpiece is, in comparison to a traditional stock like a manners T2 or mcmillan A5?

Obviously comfort is an individual thing, but it is comfortable enough to me that I didn't even think about it until you asked the question.

It is a narrow cheek piece. This is a feature that I really like. For me narrow cheek pieces assist in a more consistent cheek weld. If you have a large radius it's harder to get in the exact same spot each time.

LoneWolf, I really enjoyed your review. I am thinking about using a Whiskey 3 myself. I have one suggestion...On part two wear a shirt or jacket that isn't the same color as the stock. It kind of washed out the shape of the buttstock in the video. Not bashing you. Just food for thought.

Have you tried the new Borka bit for the AICS chassis to see if it would work for tightening the action screws on the KRG ?

Unfortunately that's the kind of stuff I don't think about until post. If you look through other videos you will notice that is the jacket that I am always wearing if I need a jacket. It's actually the best outdoors soft shell I have and I tend to wear it all the time with varying layers underneath. I am working on a more varied wardrobe.

Actually I don't have an AICS here at the moment so I don't have the Borka bit either. I will check at some point and see if it's the same size.

We didn't shoot for accuracy on this review. When I checked zero I did not note any discrepancies in the precision of the system versis the XLR Evolution or the B&C M40 that this action has been in. Obviously there is a GREAT improvement over the Hogue stock.

Just received the folder version today, I found everything to be true as stated on the video review for everything that was covered on the non-folder. I really like the Cam lock system for the adjustable length of pull. At first I was worried about too much play until I read the instructions and found out about the tension screw adjustment. You can change the length of pull extremely fast and easy, which is quite nice if you happen to wear body armor, or use your rifle in the cold months. Takes seconds to adjust..

Also the Folder is the most solid folder I have ever handled period. No play at all! feels like a fixed chassis. If you didn't tell some one it folded they would never know as it is that solid. I also like how in the folded position how the rifle is still very usable. Meaning that it doesn't interfere with the firing hand, and can allow for some unique shooting positions. All I can say is that a lot of thought went into this Chassis. Very nicely done.

Good to here.

I am looking forward to comparing the lockup against the AI. In my opinion the Accuracy International is the gold standard for folding stocks. If the Whiskey-3 locks up as solid and stays tight after repeated use, then this will be an excellent option for a very compact rifle.

I am REALLY resisting the urge right now to build an LE bolt gun with a 14.5" barrel and perm attached suppressor mount. Combined with a folding chassis, it would be an extremely compact and fairly light package. Something that isn't lost on you when trying to climb a fence onto a roof.

I have a friend in SLC that has a Folder AI, and you can get a tiny amount of play out of it. However the AI has about 2000 rds through it and the KRG that I received has none. So time will tell how it holds up to the AI, right now the KRG has the upper hand IMO. All folders are going to get a little play after awhile I imagine.

Anyhow I really like the video review.

Do you know if I could take the folder part off of the Chassis and try to fit in onto a Sako TRG? I remember a long time ago KRG saying that from the pistol grip back to the butt-stock was made to swap out with a TRG. Not sure if that is still true.

I am not sure. I remember that swapping the folder onto the TRG was one of the design concepts, but I don't know if the production version has this functionality.

I will have to ask the guys at KRG before I get the next video done.

the hinge hardware for the folder just arrived today. This is a look at the main part, the locking mechanism.

It's a very solid feeling, well made part. I can't wait to get it installed on the chassis.

Hope you like it, we'll be getting the instructions out soon but we wanted to get those parts to you asap.

And yes the folding back end off the W3C folder will fit onto a TRG, all you need is the correct rear action screw.

@LoneWolfUSMC: I am in the middle of a rifle build and trying to decide on the stock. It comes down to the AICS 1.5 and TRG Whiskey 3. You have shot them both and have a better idea of their reliability and improvement over the original stock. If you would be building a Rem. 700 arc-sd, which one would you go with? Thank You.

Between the AICS and the Whiskey-3 it is going to come down to personal preference.

Both are going to be equally accurate and reliable.

If you have large hands and like a vertical grip, the Whiskey-3 will probably work better for you.

If you have regular sized hands and like the thumbhole, then the AICS may be a better option.

Both are chassis systems that hold the action in the same manner and feed from the same magazine. The Whiskey-3 appears more modular in nature. If KRG continues to release updated and optional parts it appears easy to upgrade. The AICS is a little less so. You can replace the skins and bolt other items onto it, but that is about it.

Personally, I love the fact that we have a number of options to sift through. Manufacturers have really been stepping up to the plate with new designs. You really can tailor a rifle to exactly how you want it to feel.

Nice review and thanks. I'm seriously considering one of these for a Tikka T3 .223 Varmint Stainless I own. I'm just not entirely sure of what needs to be modified on the AI mags to make it work. I'd hate to buy a Whiskey and then have to machine the bottom of my action as it defeats the cost savings aspect. By the time I'd buy a McMillan (I own others and like them much) and get new bottom metal and pay for some smithing, I'd be at or over the cost for a Whiskey KRG.

I'm hoping I could buy a KRG Whiskey, drop my .223 T3 varmint in, and make a simple AI magazine mod all myself. If anyone has any feedback on that, it would appreciated. Maybe I'll start another thread the closer I get to purchase time.

You realize it's not just the KRG chassis that requires magazine (or receiver)mods for the plastic 223 AI mags?

ANY Tikka stock (including the McMillan) or bottom metal will require these mods to work with these mags.

Massoud (search his name) recently did a how-to to mod the mags.

The metal AI (.308 size) require NO mods to work.

This is a great option for those who want a compact system. The stock locks up well and the mechanism is extremely well made.

Nice to see someone has the same allen key tools as I do!!

Now for what I noticed in the video with these tools, you needed to use both of them. With one being metric and one standard, why wouldn't they all be one or the other? I guess this would be a question for Justin at KRG... Also, what are your opinions on the handgrip as far as size goes?

The chassis was originally designed for a Sako TRG, hence all the fasteners are metric. The Rem 700 has 1/4-28 action screws, so you need the imperial size wrench for that. Same as an AICS.
