Never have, usually clean with some sort of degreaser real quick, quick dry with compressed air and spray away. Have a couple rifles that get used/carried every few days, paint stays on plenty good.

Quick wipe down with brake cleaner- then start with
a light basecoat...

I've never used primer but I mist the whole rifle as my first coat. Not sure why but the paint seems to stick better. No flaking or chipping.

As already said- no primer, but light coats definitely stick better than going too heavy at first

No primer here either. It will wear if used but it's easy to redo.

Krylon Fusion Camo products. Check the site for links to prep, stencils, etc. Ambitious project.

I use lacquer thinner to clean and degrease, and put on several thin coats of HS Camo permanent, or Krylon camo-and then sometimes cover with flat (not matte) clear for an extra layer of protection. It holds up really well.
