Kuhl pants?

I am looking at a set of Kuhl pants for Christmas and was wondering what kind of opinions you guys had on them? I am wanting a hunting/shooting set of pants. Some thing that if I wear thermals under will be fairly warm but very durable. Which version would you recommend? Thanks

I would give the guys at Deliberate Dynamics a shout. They sell as well as use Kuhl pants. I'm sure they can point you in the right direction! They are a bunch of good dudes and they have great customer service!

tactical distributors also carries kuhl stuff; they have a 15% off coupon when you sign up for their mailing list and run 20% of codes fairly often. can't speak to the pants since they don't offer any with a long enough inseam, but I've had really good luck with their shorts, a lot more durable than you'd think on first blush.

I have a couple pair I picked up at REI. Good walking around pants, they are pretty well made, but I wouldnt consider them field/hunting pants.

Im digging wool right now. Id get a set of Filson wool pants if I was spending much time in the woods. I like traditional crap.

KITANICA is expensive, made in USA but the best warm weather field/range pants I have found. Well designed and built , comfy, tons of pockets and tough. Sign up for the deals and occasionally they have decent savings.

FILSON THE Mother of traditional field clothes. "Buy once/Cry once" pricing unfortunately. Their wool vest and wool pants are a Montana winter staple.

Karhart.........For the bucks...good stuff. Heavily discounted at farm and Ranch stores.

I've got some and really like them. Having said that, I would not consider them "field pants" in a pure sense. They are "urban/mountain" pants! However, having said that, they would work fine for field pants. I've had a pair of the heavy fabric ones for a year and they are well-made, have held up great, look Kuhl and are warm (for cotton). I've worn them a lot in evenings and weekends outdoors.

Kuhl - Great for Around Town

I have the Kuhl "Revolver" pants. They are great for around town. However, they're not my first choice for hunting/field wear. I recommend you consider the Rail Riders pants - especially the Versa Tac light and mid. They are tough, roomy, and have plenty of well-placed and secure pockets. Have Kuhl pants, more an urban type pant.

I would recommend Vertx, I love the Phantom LT.
Also comes in camouflage colors. Low-key functional cargo pockets (one each for wallet and phone).
Extra zipper hidden pocket to secure valuables. Nifty flap on the rear pockets to secure your wallet more (anti pick-pocket).
Sturdier than some Kuhl pants and better value for the money (I believe).

I have a pair and I wear them to do battle at work in my office. No way I would consider these an "outdoor" type of pant.

I have 3 different kuhl products, 2 pants and a set of shorts. The shorts are the most comfortable pieces of clothing I have ever owned and have stood up to 5 years of life and rock climbing. the pants have been great but i have not used them for hard use but i think they will stand up great.
another option is arbor wear, they are made for tree climbers and you dont look like a tactitool.

These are pretty much the only pants I wear for all but really dirty activities. I have tried most of their different offerings and settled on the Revolver for warm/wet weather and the Rydr for cooler/dry weather.

They are not Carhart tough by any means but they hold up well to moderate outdoor use and they are comfortable. The toughest version is probably "The Law" offering but I found it to be too stiff and heavy for my needs.

I too am a fan of their shorts. Similar material to the Revolver pants but slightly different pocket. Also have a pair of Gunslingers (fine pattern corduroy) for nicer dressed days.

Agree 100% with Dtarget. I have about 6 or 8 pair. They fit well and are really comfortable (for me). The only problem is the high rise and the short zipper. Hard to get your hand in and junk out with out unbuttoning on some models. They are not Carhart tough and fray at the cuffs. Ryders for winter and revolver for warmer weather. Try them on before you buy is my advice...

I own a bunch of them, and really like them. Go straight to the Kuhl website and they give good descriptions of the cloth weight, fit, etc. you can never find the 33 and other odd waist sizes at stores, but you can order them straight from the Kuhl site when they are in stock. I agree with others that there are better hunting clothes out there, because when you get the Kuhls thick enough to be protective, they are also too stiff and loud.

They have many different types of fabric and weight pants. I have one pair that is a stiffer heavier weight and one pair that is a thin lightweight pair. Read the descriptions carefully. What they call "Athletik Fit" has a wider leg at the bottom which is what I prefer. I would just send them an email and ask them what is the heaviest most durable fabric pant they have and order a pair through them. Most stores that carry them only seem to have a couple of styles. I have no complaints about my two pair and would like a couple more.

These are my favorite pair of paints for shooting and every day use.

My oldest pair is 2 + years old and has held up fine to all the shooting activities and backpacking.
