Any of you hide members planning to compete? I was told that the premium rimfire rifles such as Anschutz 54, Winchester 52, 40x, Cooper, Suhl, etc would be placed in the Custom rifle class. Tuners and 1 piece rest for unlimited class only. Custom class is factory rifle with mods such as match bbl, trigger job, custom stock, etc. While not stated, I would assume the Vudoo would also fall into this class. Halls, Turbo's, Stiller, etc would be in the unlimited class.

Team NEKFGA traveled to Somerset this weekend to compete in the KY Precision Rimfire - Relay for Life 50y BR event event. We had a great time. Joe and the folks at KPR put on a well organized match with tough competition on a super venue. All for a good cause. We were late arriving and had to shoot in the last two relays. Normally the winds are less in the mornings and we figured we were screwed. Fortunately the wind was moderate and steady most of the day and our experience shooting the diabolical winds at our home range in Ashland had prepared us well. Most of us shot two classes. Josh D won the heavy factory bolt class with his Anschutz 64 MPR with a 250/250 and 13x count. I was 2nd shooting my old Remington 540XR with a 250 and 10x. I also won the Custom rifle class shooting my antique Anschutz 54 factory stock super match with a score of 250 and 14x. Premium factory bolt rifles were forced into the Custom class including my Annie 54, Win 52's, Brno's, Suhls, Sako's etc. I was not happy about that but in the end, it did not matter.

The old annie drew quite a crowd of admirers when I placed it on the bench along with several offers to buy it. Sorry lads, not for sale. High overall score was 250 with 20x in the unlimited class. This was my first time scoring a 250 out of 250 in any match and that was fun. 2nd place in the Custom class was only 2x less than my score. Like I said good competition. I shot Lapua Midas+ in the Anschutz and Center X in the Remington.

KPR fed us lunch and provided a great prize table and we all went home happy. These guys have a good bunch of shooters and treated us like family. Check them out if you are ever near south central, KY. They also put on ELR matches and other fun shoots.

I sometimes compete in the Th nite matches @ NEKFGA. Right now I'm kinda frustrated with 22rf. Sold my CZ455 for the 457... and the 457 has been a bit of a disappointment. Wondering if its worth $450 for a Lilja bbl.

I sometimes shoot the nite shoots on Thurs also but when it is hot and the days long, I have too many other things to do most of the time. We have had a few (3) shooters bring their new CZ457's to the nite shoots and go home frustrated lately. I have a CZ452 that is a light wt American and I shot it once or twice for fun but it was not that competitive either. I think my best score with it was 238 shooting CX ammo. I squirrel hunt with it but it is just not tight enough to do BR shooting with it when competing with Annies, Brno's, Coopers, etc. It is about a 1moa rifle on a good day. Need to be closer to 1/2moa to be competitive. At the match this weekend we observed several CZ457 shooters competing in light and heavy bbl classes. They said they were doing well but they all scored lower than a 250/10x. I think most were in the 248-245 range. They were using the IBS tgt which is slightly larger bulls than we shoot at home but also has smaller X ring. It made for higher scores but lower X-counts. The winds were pretty easy to read there also. That helped our scores.
