What is the maximum distance the quarter inch target is shot at. The question regards the monthly COF as published by NRL.22. I am aware the MD can add additional stages with varying distances and targets that do not count in the reported matches.

July and October 2018 courses of fire had the full KYL rack (down to .25 inch) at 50 yards.

Last year there were no official NRL22 regional matches. But our local club hosted an unofficial SE regional match. Ask anyone that attended and they will tell you that Mike (who's been providing half of the monthly COFs for NRL22) put together a challenging and fun COF for the regional match. Since the 2020 nationals are scheduled to be held here, it would not surprise me to see longer ranges on the KYL at this years Nationals given Mike's propensity to provide a few unique challenges.

While I couldn't even get the first target. ? And you were the only one in our squad to do it. I think there was some over confidence in play.

I do recall cleaning one at 75 the week before though. ;)

I did that too at a match. I was shooting better than ever, came to the KYL and blew the first shot. Done. Over confidence got me good. I was stunned. never again LOL

Guys, thanks for all the responses. I originally asked it because I wanted to know whether myself, my ammo and my rifle (T1X) were capable of hitting every target on the standard NRL courses of fire. Obviously there are environmental influences, considerations of position and other factors.

I made extra stages set up at our last NRL match.

    One stage had a Big KYL rack (6", 5", 4", 3", 2") at 220yds. Followed by a regular KYl rack at 65yds.

Shoot big to small hit or miss at 220yds first.

Then big to small hit or miss at 65yds.

Shot from prone position...rifle grounded, mag in and bolt back. Shooter standing behind rifle off the start.

I think 3 guys cleaned the close rack...I personally got 4 of 5. Missing the 2nd smallest.

Nobody cleaned the far rack. I hit 2 on the day.

The stage was hard....nobody complained it was too hard. So I call that a positive.

I like stages that are more towards the harder side. A good stage is challenging but possible.

FOOS, you're playing in a big sandbox. It is relieving to here no one cleaned it at 220. My bet is that someone will in the not distant future.

I started shooting them and it's a lot of fun. A lot less stress than a regular PRS match. You still need skills though.

I shot my first NRL22 last weekend. I was awful except for the KYL. It's a great match and will be going back. Lord knows I need the practice. It's not easy by any stretch. They come up with some cool COFs.

We had two weak side stages. One was switching from strong side to weak side to strong side while prone. The other was several positions using a regular school chair. I'm getting better and much more comfortable doing it.

Yep Some are really tough. I'm getting more comfortable too. Tying to concentrate on the targets and not the timer. I was rushing set ups and blasting away thinking I was running out of time. Then I'd realize I had ample time left.

Been meaning to post these since I took the picture about a month or so ago.

These are some KYL targets. :geek:

Some guy locally to me makes them. They told me he's a farmer who makes a bunch of PRS steel targets for all the matches.

We started to practice the small KYL rack at 100 yards. I like it better at 100 than 50. Its a great way to keep yourself focused on your fundamentals. Clearing 8 at 100 is very difficult Clearing 7 has been done Quite a few times. In the matches though they are set at 50 yards

I regularly see it at 50yds at our matches

Hell I wouldn’t be surprised if they had it at 100yds, everyone in the world says their gun shoots 1/4” groups at 100yds. Should be easy ?
I got KYL at 50, 75, 100, they are all hard, but you bet I am tickled to death to hit it at 100 yards, 1/4".. got lucky and hit it 2 in a row showing off, 40 grian Federal Automatch,1200 fps, my CZ 457 Pro Varmint loves it, shoots it better than SV high dollar stuff at 75 yards or better.
